    This hotel was amazing. Split between 5 people it barely cost anything, and it was located right downtown so everything was either within walking distance or a cheap cab ride away.

    Our room had a bedroom with a king size bed, a pull out couch capable of sleeping two more people, and an extra cot. It also came with a kitchen (oven, fridge, sink etc.)

    If you would really like to see your money stretch, go to the grocery store like we did and cook yourself a couple nice meals instead of going out to eat. You'll feel a lot better AND your wallet will still feel nice and heavy (until you go out to party that is...)

    This hotel is in prime location to see all the greatest things that Montreal has to offer. McGill University is only one block north, the Eaton Shopping Centre is two blocks away, St Catherine's Street is only a 2 minute walk, and many other attractions are within walking distance.

    Pool, fitness room, gift shop, 2 large restaurants, a beautiful lobby with a grand staircase and entry hall, and beautiful views of the city from the hotel rooms.The rooms themselves were the biggest I've ever seen with extrememly large bathrooms, coffee makers, A/C, patios, t.v., playstations, free newspapers etc.

  • 60 room hotel with 32 rooms having queen size beds. Formerly a headquarters for a Canadian bank. Rooms are designed in 1800's style and have 15 foot ceilings.

    I walked into the lobby and realized that this sure wasn't my hostel! Looks like your typical Ritz Carlton, which means elegance, class and comfort.

    When you look on your English language tourist map, you'll notice the "Hotel de Ville" and you may be a bit puzzled. Well, don't make the mistake that I made and assume that this is a hotel! This magnificent building at the crest of Place St. Jacques-Cartier in the heart of Old Montreal is actually City Hall. I walked in the lobby and it looked impressive, but I'm not aware if you can tour the building.

    A hostel experience is unpredictable. One night, you may experience peace and quiet and a good night's sleep; the next night you might have a party with total strangers.
    This hostel is located in a cool building on the west end of Old Montreal and offers private rooms as well as dorm room beds. I stayed in the "Big Blue Dorm" and paid $19 Canadian (around $12 U.S.) per night.

    I provided the web site if you want all the details on the Novotel but I have to say I really enjoyed my stay with the place and was very impressed with everything.

    Rooms
    The rooms where all well designed and had a swanky look and feel to them. There was even some interpretation of the design from hotel management. The king size bed was very comfortable as well. Be warned about the "smart" fridges. If you move anything in the fridge you get charged. It doesn't matter if you put it back or not. The fridge is conveniently no that "smart".

    L'O Restaurant
    The buffet was awesome. At $15.50 it was a little higher than average but the quality of the food is very obvious. It's not your typical hotel buffet. I really enjoyed the crepes. The decor of the place was cool too with large screens of fish. It created a nice atmosphere. I noticed in the evenings it was changed to a fire.

    Location
    This place is perfectly located if you are planning on going to a hockey game. It is literally between 4 and 5 minutes to the Bell Centre. So very very convenient. Especially once you see the traffic congestion at a hockey game! It is also perfectly located if you are heading to one of Montreal's famous nightlife area's; Crescent Street. Crescent was less than 10 minutes away.

    Other
    I learnt as well if you don't already have hockey tickets. The front desk can arrange them for you. They have a number of some place and they have have them dropped off at the hotel. I ended up going to a scalper after but I thought that was great.

    There's a fabulous view of the city from the hotel roof, where there is also a rather nice swimming pool.
