The Delta Montreal is a great hotel. It's very luxurious and rich. They have great facilities to make your stay a joy. Also there employees will do anything to accomidate your needs. I called down for a cot for my freind at 3:30 a.m. and they were quite happy to bring it up.

Unique Quality: The Delta Montreal has many unique qaulities. The pool is very large and nice equiped with a sauna and hot tub in the same faciltiy. On my floor the view was amazing, i could see over top of buildings and onto the busy streets of montreal.

Delta Montreal

This hotel is in prime location to see all the greatest things that Montreal has to offer. McGill University is only one block north, the Eaton Shopping Centre is two blocks away, St Catherine's Street is only a 2 minute walk, and many other attractions are within walking distance.

Unique Quality: Pool, fitness room, gift shop, 2 large restaurants, a beautiful lobby with a grand staircase and entry hall, and beautiful views of the city from the hotel rooms. The rooms themselves were the biggest I've ever seen with extrememly large bathrooms, coffee makers, A/C, patios, t.v., playstations, free newspapers etc.

Delta Montreal Swimming Pool

Just stayed at the Delta and found it to be very comfortable. Above all, the location is excellent. The pool was not dirty, as another reviewer reported. Although I did not swim (I forgot to pack a suit), I did use the fitness room which is adjacent to the pool. It looked just fine - but it IS a saltwater pool. My son would have gone swimming in shorts since he also didn't pack a suit - but spent most of his time in the fitness room. There are also indoor squash courts there.
The Hotel is not at all seedy but some rooms are updated, I think, and some aren't. Yes, the faucet in the tub dripped but what is important is that I couldn't hear it - the room was so large and the bathroom was so large and spacious. I don't even know if my son perhaps forgot to completely turn the faucet off.
Free newspaper in the morning, good cable tv, nice balcony ( a little 'dinged' in the corner but it's not like you have a party out there..) with a fabulous view, especially at night. Coffeemaker in the room with coffee, comfortable beds. Big spacious windows.
Very nice hotel, in my opinion, and near everything. Most importantly, near a subway station. We used the clean, modern subway to go everywhere!

Unique Quality: Saltwater indoor pool.

Very Nice hotel. Facilites include a spa and a decent size gym (racquetball court, sauna, treadmills, pool and Jacuzzi). The pool was dirty, people were swimming in trunks and tee-shirts !! We had a signature room on the top floor. The room was pretty big, the king bed was comfortable, the balcony was useless and the painting hanged on the wall was scary.
The room was really clean, however, they should change the furniture and upgrade to a flat screen TV in the signature rooms.

Unique Quality: The view from the signature club lounge is breathtaking, you can see the St Laurent river and some of the skyline.
My girlfriend enjoyed the June Jacobs bath products.

Hotel Delta Montreal (Part 1)

I stayed at the Hotel Delta Montreal while attending a work meeting in Feb 2009. Overall, the hotel is in a good location in the city, and the rooms are clean and rather spacious.

However, the staff service is not so good and the office facilities are rather limited and some office equipments are not working properly when I was there.

Please go to part 2 of this tip for more information and photos.

More about Delta Montreal

Great deal at the Delta Montreal

by A TripAdvisor Member

Just returned from a week in Montreal at the Delta Montreal. We found the staff to be very friendly and always willing to help; the rooms were clean and the daily housekeeping meticulous. The large windows and balconies are a plus. We had four people --two rooms--and the rooms were quite different from each other--with unusual shapes. Comfortable chairs and good bed. Especially nice were the pool and weight room and the two computers provided for Internet access (no costs) by guests.

The location cannot be beat. It was very, very cold and we were only a very short walk from the underground.

The hotel provides everything needed for a quite comfortable stay. We give it five stars because of the great value (good price for us), wonderful staff and housekeeping, and terrific location.

Great stay at the Delta

by A TripAdvisor Member

I loved staying at the Delta Montreal, for many reasons, not the least of which was that the room was so nice and so clean, and we had a beautiful terrace with great views of the city. The staff was very friendly and spoke both English and French. The location was perfect. We were within walking distance of the great shopping on St. Catherine's, Old Montreal and the Underground shopping mall. The hotel has a pool (which wasn't used by me), but was very nice and clean. It also has a room off of the lobby where you can check e-mail for free (great perk as I don't have a laptop). All in all, for my money, the Delta was PERFECT! I can't wait to go there again.

Hostels/Trains from Ny to montreal- JAZZZ FESTTT EXTRAVAGANZA!!!

by what_silliness

HI EVERYONEEE
im an idiot and totally delayed this little thing of finding a place to stay and how to get to the 25th international Jazz fest in montreal.
SO can anyone recommend any hostels (close to the location of the festival) and is montreal expensive?
im a struggling college student so i need CHEAPPPP prices. :)
thanks everyone who responds

oh and BTW, if anyone wants to come with me to the Fest, tell me! my original plan was to gather total strangers who love jazz and go . well, after i gathered about 25 of them i realized itll be impossible to form one coherent schedule. however, im still open for the idea! so if anyones interested, im located in NY. let me know.
:)

Why not get a bunch of your friends together and stay at a downtown hotel?

I highly recommend staying at the Delta Montreal (on President Kennedy Ave)

http://www.deltamontreal.com/english/welcome.html

Yes it's somewhat expensive, but if you can get a group of friends together, you can split the costs of a hotel room, and that way keep expenses to a minimum.

Also, the location of this particular hotel (I have stayed there myself) puts you right smack-dab next door to the jazz festivities and locale - not the mention the very famous House Of Jazz (formerly Biddles) restaurant and jazz bar, which is right across the street from the hotel, and which serves up some of the best ribs in town!

http://www.houseofjazz.ca/main.html

Great little restaurant with live jazz and a wonderful ambience. It's where all the jazz festival performers all like to hang out after the show.

If you're coming by train, you also might want to check out staying at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel (the train station pulls right up underneath). Rather on the expensive side, but again - if you have friends sharing a room, you guys can split the costs!

See my VT Montreal page for more tips!

Bienvenue to our jazz festival, and have fun!!

Kind regards,
appaloosa
