Has an indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and gym. Located inthe center by many restaurants and cafes. Large luxury hotel with great views. Rooms are big but can use refurbushing.
If you are expecting the reak 4 star treatment you wouldn't find it here, The hotel is nice though, No breakfast but they do have a pool. If you drove in from the US this is the destination #1 for the refreshing swim in the pool after a 6 hour drive. The hotel is conveniently located near Rue St. Denis and St. Laurent street with all the restaurants and night life.
Local favorite William Shatner (Priceline) helped me find a great rate at the Doubletree Plaza hotel. (Shatner attended McGill University for several years, and in fact the students there renamed one of the central campus buildings after him.) In fact, I stayed here here at this three star property for considerably less than I paid at a two star hotel in nearby Ottawa. Go figure!
The Doubletree Plaza is about a fifteen minute walk from the center of Montreal, but the popular St. Denis student and entertainment district is just a three minute stroll away. That suited me fine - I love having a choice of restaurants and taverns nearby, especially ones that are open later in the evening. It is also adjacent to the Sherbrooke metro station, which was especially convenient for getting here with my baggage from the train station - I didn't have to spend money on a cab.
Note that Doubletree is now a part of the Hilton "family" of hotels, so if you are a member of their "frequent guest" program be sure to bring your member number along with you.
