Stroller on Cobblestone road
by Daisylove
Hi,
I will be going to Montreal for holiday with my baby in a couple of days time. I read that the street of some of the attractions are cobblestone. Will I have problem pushing the stoller on the cobblestone street? Thanks.

Just in Old Montreal but for the most part you should be fine. I have lots of pics and tips posted on my Montreal page. Just went last April. You're going to love it!

Haven't been to Montreal but do have much experience of pushchairs (strollers) on cobbled streets.
It depends, really, on how much time you are going to spend on those streets. It's not so easy to push, and prolonged bumping can be unpleasant for baby (especially if he/she is very small....older ones don't seem to mind too much).
Depending on the age of your baby it might be worth buying or maybe hiring a baby sling (for smaller babies) or baby backpack (for larger ones/toddlers).

Travel Tips for Montreal
Tourist Information Centre
by brazwhazz
Montreal's main tourist information centre (called Centre Infotouriste) is located on the 1st floor of the Dominion Square Building, which faces Ste-Catherine St. to the north; Peel St. to the west; Dorchester Square to the south; and Metcalfe St. to the east.
The staff inside is friendly and cooperative. You can also check out the many brochures and fliers that are on hand. While many are about Montreal, there are also sections about Quebec's other tourist regions.
While the official address of the Centre Infotouriste is 1255 Peel St., there are also entrances facing Dorchester Square and Metcalfe St. The Centre is open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with slightly longer hours in the summer (8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. from June to August).

Definitly visit the music stores which are waay better then the ones in the USA. Also go to nightclubs of Montreal, especially if you like Hip Hop and Techno music!! For special interests, going to strip clubs in Montreal is full of fun too, and it is way cheaper then in the United States.
Festival des arts du Village
by Blatherwick
The Festival des Arts du Village, now called Festival Montreal en Arts (FMA), is held on Sainte Catherine Street Est. This 4 day festival attracts more than 170 visual arts, performance or craft artists to the village. Like all of Montreal's festivals this one is colourful, well run, and fun.

Jeanne-Mance and St-Catherine is a very central point in Montreal. You'll be surrounded by a University, Museums and the Place des Arts, the Sprectrum, restaurants, etc.
Plus this is where the film festival, the Jazz festival and the Just for laugh festivals are located.

I was really surprised when I realized the most part of the population speaks french. The french culture is really part of this city, the most european city from all North America. I was only disappointed by the rare museums and historic places dedicated to the american natives.
Anyway, I recommend to visit the Musee d´archeologie et d´historie de Montreal.
