Average Hotel, Reasonable Price
Stayed at the Hotel Champ Des Mares over christmas. Its location is quite good, with all the old town attractions within a quick walking distance. For me, it was one of the few places you can find at a reasonable price in the area.
Room was pretty small, but I couldn't say I expected a lot for the price. Service was friendly and provided everything I needed. Free breakfast was included and the restaurant was nice.
If you are after a more luxurious or boutique hotel, this is probably not the best otion, however if you want somewhere to sleep at night, thats safe and clean, its definately an option.
I believe this hotel used to known as hotel du vieux port.

Hotel in Vieux Montreal
Very small room, restaurant on premises, nice enough staff, NO elevator. In September, 2004, the rate for one night was $94.50CAD plus taxes.
Unique Quality: "Copious" American breakfast included. Use of pool and fitness facilities nearby.
