Hi We stayed at the Hilton Hotel , just outside the old city wall and next to the Parliament. Approx 10 to 15 minute walk to the Chateau. Hotel photo and details on my Quebec page.
Good Luck
Mike

Sorry, I misread and gave you info on Quebec . We were in Montreal also but cannot recal where the Chateau is located. Something tells me it was close to our hotel

Travel Tips for Montreal

Amazing architecture

by ct-bound

I just loved the amazing architecture everywhere, especially in the houses in the Plateau area. Shiny black wrought-iron bannisters on winding staircases on 17th C style buildings with a 4-square foot garden in front.

All done in beautiful bright colours. Open your eyes and just take it all in.

You absolutely must go...

by lyn

You absolutely must go shopping here. There are quite a few malls downtown, like the Eatons Centre for example. Just walk down St. Catherine street. There is also the neatest little mall on this street...the outside is green (sorry, not good with names). The food is good and the stores are very original. I bought Cartmen (from South Park) made of chocolate. There is the coolest looking night club called the 737. It is way high on top of a sky scraper. What makes it so cool are the blue laser beams that shine from the club like a lighthouse light every night.

If you're from a smaller city...

If you're from a smaller city and you've never been to a big Casino I'd go there. I'm not a huge fan of the casino but all my small city friends get a big kick out of it. It's kind of hard to get to if you're not driving but I know it's doable. Even if you don't have big bucks to go and spend, I recommend going for a walk around...see just how enormous it really is.
If you're driving- do valet, it's the only way!
(it's just a $1 tip in and $1 tip out)

It's open 24 hours a day Personally, I love to watch the sun rise from the Westmount look-out. You can only get there by car, or bike I guess. It's too bad because I really can't describe how to get there but there's never anyone around and it's so peaceful compared to the mount royal look-out which ALL WAYS has cars around it.
Ask around in the day light and see if you can find it so at night you can go back.

Visit Montreal by bike!!...

by Deus_ultima

Visit Montreal by bike!! Montreal is filled with nice parcs, rivers and tons of unseen treasure that you can only explore by bike. Bring your own or rent one and get this guide from Vélo Mag that contains 10 different trips around the island with over 460km of beautifull riding for all levels! You can get the guide at most sport shops.

La St-Jean - party and celebrate Quebec!

by lotta29

La St-Jean on the 24th of July is Quebec's national day and a day to party! Especially the people who support an indepent Quebec celebrate on this day. Head to the Maisonneuve park near the Olympic Stadium to take part in a big open-air concert - about 250 000 people and Quebec-flags and fleur-d'elyse all over! It's a lot of fun!
