Hotel le St. Andre

Located on a quiet street, at the heart of Latin Quarter. Very close to both Rue St. Catherine and Rue St. Denis, Montreal's restaurants and nightlife spot. It's one of the most affordable hotels in the inner city. The hotel itself is satisfiable, friendly staffs and free complimentary wi-fi internet connection. The rooms are basic, with attached small bathrooms. The only thing I didn't like about the hotel is its parking lot. They have 5-6 slots at the back of the hotel, but getting the car in and out was a pain in the neck, so narrow 'n shady. (Also see Danger & Annoyance) If you're staying at this place and are driving, I recommend parking on the front street, or pay some extra money at the 24-hr surveillance lots nearby...believe me!

Unique Quality: (Check hotel website for pictures, it looks exactly like that except a little older)

Good price, good location - awful night

I staid at Hotel le Saint Andre during the spring of 2003. I chose the hotel because of it's location and size.

The location can't be beat. It's a block from all the action on St. Catherine Street. It is also a 15 minute walk from the main bus station, to which we arrived from the airport.

The staff were very friendly and brought our breakfast up to the room.

The room itself was clean and basic.

However, it was impossible to sleep at night because of loud parties next door (from both sides!). So if you are the type to party through the night - you might actually enjoy it here - but all I wanted to do was get a good night sleep to be able to explore the city in the morning.

Montreal's Gay Village

Where in the village would you recommend staying? We'd like something clean and affordable ($100 - 150) per night.

There is a free gay magasine...voices I think it's called.

Can get it in everybook or music store downtown in the entry (it's obvious it's gay, so..)

They would have all the adresses..

If not google "gay montreal" and you'll see tons of stuff.

There's a hotel on St. Dennis which is on the East end of town close to "the village". It's called Hotel St. Denis. It's quaint, clean, nice bathrooms with good water pressure and rate are real reasonable. I stayed there 2 summers ago for a week and I'd go back. The web address is:

For a safe bet, there is a Holiday Inn right at the corner of Berri / Ste-Catherine and with view on the Parc Emilie Gamelin where there will be numerous shows during the upcoming Gay festival. Check the holiday inn web site for more details

I think you may be referring to the magazine Fugues.
Also available at www.fugues.com.

Very complete information about clubbing, arts, events, adds and all...
There are a few B&Bs right in the Village right where the action is, for cheaper that that.

Maybe I can help some more.

I've heard of that the Hotel Le Saint Andre is a good hotel right in the village, or look at http://english.montrealplus.ca for features on gay life in montreal.
