An Ethiopian treat
Owned by the same people as the Kutuma Hotel, Le Nil Bleu is a great Ethiopian restaurant on rue St. Denis. Ethiopian food is another type of cuisine we had never tried, but we had heard really good things about it, so in we went. The decor is African themed, with leopard print candles and gorgeous pictures on the walls. Dim lighting, gentle African music and friendly conversation added to the ambience. We had excellent service from 2 people, the waiter and Danny from over at the Kutuma. Very attentive and friendly, without rushing us at all. They even gave us a free dessert and Ethiopian tea. We started off with a kind of tomato salad with onion and a light oil dressing.
Everything on the menu looked delicious, so we had a combo, which combined one appetizer and 3 main dishes. The meal was served traditionally Ethiopian; on a large flour crepe called injera, with the four dishes right on top, no cutlery involved! There was also a plate of small pieces of injera rolled up that you use to scoop up your food. We had two types of beef, one lamb dish, and one lentil dish. Everything was absolutely mouth-watering!
