The Kutuma is an African themed boutique hotel in the heart of Montreal. It is a true boutique hotel, as it only has 9 rooms on 3 floors. Dave and I stayed here for 6 days on our honeymoon. When we called to reserve a few months ahead of time, they told us they would upgrade us if there was anything available. When we got there, they had upgraded us from a junior suite to the deluxe penthouse suite. Every part of our room was gorgeous, from the elephant table in the kitchen to the huge jacuzzi tub. The bed was huge, and was the most comfortable bed I have slept on in my life. I have a lot of trouble getting a good, full night's sleep, and I had no problem during our stay. The decor throughout the hotel follows the African theme, with tan and brown colors, tasteful paintings of wildlife and people, and elegant animal print touches throughout. The only negative is that there is no elevator in the hotel, so it may be difficult for people with limited mobility.
The Kutuma staff are excellent. Not only are they friendly, they are always wanting to assist you. Since we rented a car, we had to use their valet service, which was a very good experience. All you have to do is call the front desk and by the time you make the short walk downstairs the car is there waiting and the attendent is there with a smile. We dealt with Danny, the owner's son, most of the time. He always seemed to be there and he was always smiling and cheery. He just went above and beyond and was happy to do so. Dave and I both highly recommend the Kutuma to everybody, whether you are visiting Montreal or if you just want a romantic place to stay for the night with somebody special.
