Good location

Alright I work here, so we could consider this as publicity, but I do not care much about the health of the owner's wallet. The hotel is located on the corner of Rene-Levesque and Berri, right across a wing from the UQAM. It is also a street away from the Berri metro station, which have access to three subway lines. It's a clean three stars hotel with (usually) a small kitchen and bathroom, kinda like a studio. The staff is nice. Obviously, I work here for god's sake !

It is located near the Quartier Latin, the Village, the Old Port and the biggest metro station in the city. Ton of action in the area, this is a very active part of Montreal, yet Rene Levesque boulevard is much quiet compared to other main streets, like Ste-Catherine.

The hotel attracts tourist groups from France, Mexico, Germany, USA... It has a good reputation and unlike some other hotels in the area, it does not rent rooms to prostitutes.

cooking in the room?? anyone??

although i'm not quite an amateur backpacker, i don't fond of expensive accomodation. as long as it's clean with attached bathroom, i'm more than grateful. this hotel furnished with oven and stove to cook. on top of that, it comes with all cooking utensils. well, it's rather too much for me as i'm always eat out.... hello, who cooks while backpacking?!!

a good value in Latin Quarter

I needed to rent a suite, so when I by accident came across this hotel on the net offering suites for CAN$135, I thought it was a good value by Montreal standards. I still think it was, and overall I was happy with my stay. The sofa bed was not that great, and there were some problems, but I still feel I can recommend this place.

Unique Quality: The place is clean, has good water pressure, parquet and tile floors. They offer a very basic breakfast. Very close to the UQAM subway hub (two blocks), within a close distance to old city and Latin Quarter. However, channel choice on TV is limited, bathroom is very small, towels are small and thin, sofa bed is not comfortable, there are stairs into it.

  • Opinion of Price: less expensive than average

"Hotel Cheap in Downtown Montreal"

I did not know Montreal at all when I booked the Hotel, I just performed a quick search on the Internet and this Hotel came up as having a decent location and price.

"Hotel Cheap in Downtown Montreal" is the window title for their website :)

The location was good, not great. You still have to walk 10 minutes or take the subway (Berri-UQAM which is very close to the Hotel) to get to the main attractions (downtown, old city center).

There were some strange-looking people "hanging around" on the streets around the Hotel, but it seemed fairly safe anyway. Nothing happened during our stay.

The rooms were very basic, but clean. The front desk staff were not the friendliest people in the world.

There was a PC with complementary Internet access in the lobby, but is was an old very slow PC with dial-up access, so you are better off just going to an Internet Cafe.

Breakfast was also included. It was the typical american-style "toast and coffee", so don't expect much.

Paid parking was available at the building next to the Hotel (but has to be arranged for at the reception or when making the reservation)

Unique Quality: ...none

Hotel with great location

I stayed there 2 years ago, at about or a little below average price range, but most of all great location:

1. On the eastern part of downrown, it's within walking distance (10-15 minutes ) to "Old Montreal" part of the city.
2. It's a block away from Montreal's Latin Quarter area where there's shops, cafes, bistros, etc.
3. It's 1-2 blocks south from the Berri-UQAM metro stop - it's a major hub where you can catch 3 metro lines.

Unique Quality: Can reserve 3 types of rooms:
- standard hotel type (1 room),
- suite (separate bedroom & living room),
- "family suite" (2 separate bedrooms and a living room)
