The room was very nice and the hotel staff friendly. The one thing that you should know about this hotel though is that if you want parking on site, you must reserve it along with your room. There is limited parking in a very small, tight garage. It's $16 per night to park there but at least you know it's in a secure lot.
This hotel is located in the Latin Quarter, close to the Berri-UQAM station and St. Denis. My room rate for 3 nights in September, 2004, was approximately $398CAD including taxes.
On-site restaurant, Il Cavaliere. Mini refrigerator in room, not stocked. Thus, you can fill it up yourself! Air conditioner in room.

The Lord Berri Hotel
by Paul2001
The Lord Berri Hotel is really nothing special. Just your standard cement block hotel. I have stayed here twice, once while it was own by Venture Hotels. I liked it more then when it seemed a little more upscale. Today it seems to be a little more oriented towards French-Canadian tourists rather than business travelers. This means the lobby is much busier and this effects the service. The hotel is not particularly atmospheric but the price is good. The rooms are still nice and fairly large. The reason I orginally picked the Lord Berri is that it is fairly well located. The rue Ste Denis district is one of my favourites in Montreal and the Lord Berri is just a short walk. A longer walk but pleasant is to the View Montreal district.
There is a restaurant/bar which is way overpriced, especially for breakfast.
Good accomodations. EXCELLENT rates, for early summer. Terrific location, especially its proximity to the subway. Easy access to this hotel from all major routes. If you use a hotel merely for sleeping and to store your travel items, this is a great hotel! No swimming pool, no game room, etc.
Caution: parking will be extra; the hotel does not have its own lot.
