Great location for Old Quebec
by ChrisSheena
We stayed 3 nights visiting Quebec for the first time. Great location inside the old town walls. This is an older hotel - translates to character. The rooms are perfectly adequate and there is a good restaurant and bar within the hotel.
We walked everywhere and left the car in the underground car park at the Hotel De Ville. There is access directly from that car park to the hotel. No nee for cah or fear of losing your ticket - you simply swipe your credit card as you drive in, and swipe (the same !) credit card when you leave.
Our bathroom was in need of decoration - the badly cracked washbasin was the only fault we could find.
Unique Quality: Great location within the Old Town.
Directions: If you are driving through the Old Town, take your gps and remember to give way to pedestrians.

Spacious Central Stay
by misodiva
What a nice large room #124. Foyer area, couch, separate clean bath. The ceiling is very high and there is a nice CD player in the room. Was so much nicer than I was expecting for the price and location. The restaurant seemed pretty dead at night, and there are spa services, but I didn't use them. Free high speed wireless internet in the room.
Unique Quality: Good location and nice price.

Central, elegant and reasonable!
by betsymarvin
From the friendly doorman and car valet on our arrival, to the service desk and everyone else we met at the hotel, we found the service gracious. Our room was not large, as a part of the space had been taken for a service closet, but was very adequate, and the free wireless internet very welcome after days on the road.
A very decent breakfast buffet is included in the accommodation price; it's always nice not to have to search for coffee in the morning!
Directions: Central, just down the hill from Chateau Frontenac

I stayed at Hotel Clarendon....
by Stephanie_L
I stayed at Hotel Clarendon. This hotel is a great place to stay. It's in the middle of everything... everything is in walking distances. It's a huge building that is half yellow and half brick. It's rooms are also great. Clean and cozy!
I stayed at Hotel Clarendon for 5 nights and it didn't break my budget!
Directions: I think, if i remember correctly, Hotel Clarendon is located on Chauveau.

Grab lunch at one of the city's best kept secrets
by Jefie about Le Charles Baillarge
Why this restaurant isn't always filled to the brim at lunch time is beyond me, except for the fact that for some reason, no one really thinks about eating there. The Charles Baillarge is located on the first floor of the Clarendon hotel, in the heart of the old city. Dating back to 1870, the Clarendon is one of the city's most historic and charming hotels. The Charles Baillarge offers an international fine cuisine table d'hote, and if you go at lunch time, you can have a soup, main course, dessert and coffee for under $15 - it really is one of the best deals in the old city! Service can be kind of slow, but unless you're in a hurry you'll probably enjoy having more time to soak up the atmosphere of the place.
On a different note, the adjacent lounge is one of the best places in the city for those who enjoy listening to jazz music. There are live shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, starting at 8:00 pm. The curry chicken salad is excellent, and so is the rib steak.
Great!

Great location for checking out Old Quebec. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. Lucked out with some jazz on a weeknite in October even though we had been told that at this time of year, jazz was on weekends only. Tours outside Quebec City were made through the staff; breakfast was quite good - again, good service and no rush to our late, leisurely breakfasts. Lucked out again when we asked for - and got - a room with two beds instead of the one bed which my sister and I had paid for.
Wonderful Stay

Good location to all the main sightseeing spots in the old town. It is just located across from the city hall. Receptionits are very helpful and kind. The room is a little small and cold although they offer to change the room. The bathroom has a jacuzzi and the room has a nice view. It is good to have jacuzzi after coming back from sightseeing in the cold winter. The parking lot is located in the basement.
Overall, I recommend this hotel.
Excellent Location
by TripAdvisor Member barryjohnsmith
The hotel is right in the heart of Quebec City. Staff and fridnly and efficient. Free internet access and valet car parking. Good breakfast buffet. Excellent jazz bar too. On the downside, the rooms were slightly on the small side, and were bland and slightly dark. But overall, good value for money.
Excellent Location, Service and Breakfast
by A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Clarendon from December 24 to December 28, 2005. The location of this hotel could not be better. Although the rooms are small (we stayed in a room with sitting area which had a view on the inside courtyard and, consequently, brick walls), it is very clean. Moreover, the staff is courteous, the service excellent, and the buffet breakfast is a steal at $9 per person when reserved with the room. There is also an exercice room, which my husband used every morning, and a spa on the premises.
As we spent Christmas day at the hotel, we made reservations for the Chrismas Buffet Dinner. The food was excellent and the choice plentiful.
I would certainly stay at the Clarendon again. The location is perfect and the price is right, i.e. $146 Canadian for a room with sitting area and $164 with buffet breakfast for two.
