Excellent!

What a great place! The location is ideal. The Sainte-Anne hotel is in the heart of the walled city and convenient to every attraction. The Chateau Frontenac, Samuel de Champlain statue, and Funiculaire (elevator to the lower town) are basically outside the front door. We were a little worried because the Sainte-Anne doesn't show up in any of the guide books on Quebec City. Our fears dissolved as soon as we walked in the door. The hotel is very contemporary (stainless steel, dark woods, glass wall between shower and bedroom area). Our room was small but very clean and modern. If you like more space, request one of the larger rooms, but we were only there to sleep so the size didn't matter as much to us. The staff was friendly but you should know that the front desk is closed from about midnight to 7:00 AM. We tried to check out at 6:45 AM to catch the train back to Montreal but had to wait for the staff member to begin the first shift at 7:00 AM. To her credit, she checked us out quickly and apologized for delaying us. We would definitely stay at the Sainte-Anne again.
Don't Bring Luggage
by A TripAdvisor Member
Very small boutique hotel on busy tourist-overrun pedestrian street in upper city across square from Chateau Frontenac. Rooms have been redone in attractive, modern, minimalist decor. Since only entrance is on the pedestrian street, luggage has to be carried about 100 yards from taxi or other transport and once you get in room (Superior room) you'll discover that there's almost no place to put the contents of the luggage. One tiny drawer in each of the 2 nighttables (after you pile the phone books on the floor) and a very small closet that will accomodate 4-5 hangars. The result is you live out of your luggage. Another problem is that the hotel has a popular outdoor cafe. Problem occurs because the hotel entrance is located at the same narrow walkway as area where people wait for tables in the cafe. You end up having to push your way through lines of people to get into your hotel.
Great Location

The location of this hotel is perfect. It is located in a pedestrian zone at the bottom Of Rue Saint-Anne. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast was ok....you should pay a couple of dollars more for one of the regular breakfasts (your continetal voucher is worth $6.50 towards a regular breakfast). The main disapointment for us was that although this hotel is in a very old building, the rooms are decorated in a funky modern style....didn't match the exposed stone interior wall. Also, there are no drawers for your clothes as is mentioned in an earlier review. The room was very clean, bathroom large with a terrific walk-in shower.

Great great great. If you like to combine the charm of a bed and breakfast, with modern decor and amenities, this hotel is for you. The rooms are spacious, but the beds are not. But they are comfortable. I had a terribe view of teh dumpsters but the room was so nice that I didn't mind. Service is good. Food too. The location marvelous. I highly recommend you stay here.
Don't go here with kids.

We booked this hotel based on Trip Advisor recommendations but it was a major disappointment, particularly for my two teenage daughters. For one thing, the room smelled of a heavy dose of disinfectant. Since none of the windows operated (they were ten feet in the air), the odor could not be dissipated. Bizarrely, the double room which we had booked had a glass wall on the back of the shower. My daughters were not interested in taking a shower with their parents watching. I can't say I blamed them. The lobby was dark undoubtedly due to the peculiarly, French Canadian fascination with 1950s style lighting fixtures.
The management was pleasant and understanding but explained that all the double rooms had glass walls behind the shower. Eventually, they moved us to a bed and breakfast they owned around the corner. We later learned we were not the only ones to be moved to this location.
For what it's worth, we were robbed of an expensive camera at this new location. The management did nothing.
