Action on the Grand Allee
by Bwana_Brown about Asia Thai
We enjoyed an excellent Thai meal at the Asia Thai restaurant on the Grand Allee on our first evening in the city. The G.A. is absolutely alive with activity as both sides of the street are crammed with restaurants with sidewalk seating, etc. You really should have a meal there just to be able to watch the diversity of the crowd. It was also nice to have breakfast there the next morning, sitting outside at the Louis Hebert restaurant. For lunch, we ventured inside the city walls to the upper part of Old Quebec and had a very pleasant meal at the Hotel Vieux Quebec on St. Jean Street (see photo taken from our table). A couple of nights later we had a full course French meal in La Maison Bruyere (in their Grande Table section) located in the building above the red umbrellas in the photo.
We had great weather, in the low to mid 20's C with a nice breeze. In conditions like that, eat outside when you can and enjoy the atmosphere of the city.
Nice, but - helpful hint.....

Nice hotel. Room was decorated tastefully and clean. Pillows were a little crispy feeling. If you book at this hotel, request a room away from the stairs and elevator. It's noisy. I usually do, but we were the last people to check in (took us awhile to get to Quebec from Montreal because we had to see the wonderful fall leaves!) and the only room left was near the stairs & elevator. The breakfast baskets were cute, but there wasn't enough food in them for two people for breakfast (2 croissants, 2 fruit cups, 2 small slices of cheese, 2 juice drinks). The staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was excellent.
Great location, excellent value!

We found this hotel through the internet, this being our first visit to Old Quebec.
Our room was quiet, the location absolutely perfect (in Place Langelois, easy walking distance to the Chateau Frontenac and everything else). Next time we visit Quebec, we'll book again at this hotel.
Merci beaucoup pour le grand temps!

What a great place to stay - spacious rooms, clean, and the location is just wonderful - right in the centre of the fortified old town and within easy (although a bit hilly at times) walking distance of major attractions including Chateau Frontenac, the Boardwalk, Fort etc.
No laundry facility but a short walk down a fabiulous cobbled street takes you to the laundromat.
Every second shop is an eatery of some kind - don't miss trying the breakfast at the creperie about 50 mtrs to the right of the hotel - fabulous.. Easy bus ride to the new city and 5min cab ride from the railway station. Can't wait to return and i know exactly where I'll be staying.
Great find

Great location. Walk a couple of blocks up hill for Forntenac and a couple of down hill blocks and a staircase to Place Royale.
Clean, well appointed rooms. The kitchenette was a surprise although unused. The continental breakfast in the picnic basket hanging on the door every morning was charming. The staff was friendly and professional.
The restaurant on the ground floor is typically bistro-excellent, if a little crowded.
The loading and unloading is difficult on the busy little street but that's the price you pay for the location, I guess.
Be sure to factor in the parking garage costs (about $12 american daily) about half a block away.
Such a good little find I won't even consider staying anywhere else next time. Why mess with what works.

We used Trip Advisor to select this Hotel and were very pleased
with the location and service. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our "breakfast basket" every morning. The Hotel is located right in the "heart" of everything you would want to see. We walked everywhere, up hill and down. The lower city was
a real treat and we often walked there (and Rue St. Jean and Rue St. Louis) late at night and felt very safe. The stores and eateries were decorated with fall leaves and pumpkins for the season. Since the gardens were past, we enjoyed this colour and the autumn colors on the trees in the Parks. We stayed a week and tried a new restaurant every night. The Portafinoand Canadian were favorite experiences. The St. Andrew 's Pub on St. Jean was also a friendly place with live entertainment 4 - 5 times a week. Old Quebec is a beautiful city and we truly enjoyed our week there. Although it was a bit cold in late October, we want to return someday.
Simply Perfect

This was our first trip to Quebec over the summer. From the first minute everything worked out perfectly. Spot right out front to pull car up to check in (I can't promise this will happen for you). Staff was incredibly accommodating (especially with us "non-French Speakers"). Rooms were not ready when we arrived (as we arrived early/before check-in), but they allowed us to store our luggage in a secure location. Parking was simple (across the street in the underground garage)--fee was added to the overall bill. The room was small, but very clean, quiet and comfortable. And, nothing beats the basket with Croissants, jams and juice hung on your door each morning. My wife and I enthusiastically recommend this perfectly located hotel. Perfect.
