Short hop - discount airlines?

by jenn_d

I'd like to visit Quebec this summer using my frequent flyer miles. AA has limited us to flying into Montreal. Is there a discount airline that provides service between the 2, like Ryanair or Easyjet? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
jenn

WestJet and Air Canada fly the route and it might run $250-300 each. If there are 2 or more I highly reccomend the drive along the St Lawrence or even the train.

www.via.ca
Those are not discount airlines, by the way.

I would suggest taking the train. It's a 3-hour ride and cost only $50 one way if you book early.

I took the bus, I think it was US$73 round trip. Nice busses, nice stations..etc. 3 hours it took I think? A plane will take longer with all the waiting around and getting there early, and the bus station is right downtown in both cities. In Quebec, you want the 2nd stop, not the first one on the outskirts of QC.

Travel Tips for Quebec

Visit the Chateau Frontenac,...

by TexasRed

Visit the Chateau Frontenac, even if you stay elsewhere. Stroll the Boardwalk, take the Funicular to the riverside shops below. And, get up early, buy a Beaver Tail and strong coffee at the pastry shop at the Chateau and sit overlooking the river as you have breakfast. Walking through Old Quebec at 2 am and a couple saying 'Hello' in French. The area seems so safe, it invites late night walks.

Aging ramparts

Quebec is the only completely walled city in North America and certainly has one of its most charming historic districts, named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1985. In 2008, the city will celebrate its 400th anniversary!

Canada's Provinces are huge...

by Michael_D

Canada's Provinces are huge for the most part. The country itself is the 2nd largest in land area in the world. Though most exhibit English trappings(Ontario and British Columbia) and French (mostly Quebec but several others have large French populations) and one, Nova Scotia is in actuality New Scotland.

THE SEPARATIST MOVEMENT: Quebec, with it distict French influence, has many times voted and threatened to secede from Canada as a sovereign country. If it did so, it would be the 2nd largest French speaking country in the world.

One lady in this picture needs no tips.

The black, soft leather bag goes with the low-heeled soft leather sandals. The mac's big & long enough to protect her from the rain & its light colour contrasts with her bag & sandals. The glimpse of zebra-print trousers complement her plain-coloured mac, as well as her bag & sandals. The sensible low-heeled sandals ensure the raciness of the zebra print trousers isn't over the top. A chic lady who knows what she's doing: it seems she's got her packing list just right. Excellent.

Walking in Old Quebec

by Quartzy

The Old Quebec is extremely walkable, which makes it nicest to visit on sunny days. You can spend a whole day just walking, shopping in the many little shops, sitting at one of the many beautiful terraces, taking pictures of monuments and (in the summer) watching the boats on the water from the Old Port.
