 | Loews Le Concorde: Worse place to stay in Quebec
| |
 |
|
 |
First off, this hotel is about 30 years OUT OF DATE, and the service team should take some classes in "how to treat customers right, especially when they pay a good price for service". The Loews could use about 4-5 seperate SERVICE ELEVATORS - as they have 4 little elevators that have LONG lines that stretch back to China. If any new luggage arrives, look out....the bell boys will be hogging up your elevator and the line just grows and grows and grows.... They have ONE ice machine in the entire hotel (on the 4th Floor), which also slows down elevator traffic. The gym was also less than stellar, as it was the size of someone's bathroom and was situated right next to their pool. The only good thing about the 4th floor is the FREE JUMBO WATER DISPENSER that you can use to fill out your little water canteens, and not have to pay those awful prices for the junk in your fridge. Use it and use it well and save your money. We can go on, but the highlights of the bad service include: 1. Needing a blanket at around 12 midnight, so we called the front desk, but they wouldn't come up and deliver it. So we had to go down and get it ourselves. Strike ONE for their customer service. 2. We tried to buy ONE stamp to mail a postcard, but the hotel said that we needed to buy a MINIMUM of 6 stamps from them or else!? Nice eh? 3. We tipped the cleaning lady 2 dollars, but she didn't refill our shampoo and soap, and when we approached her afterwards, she gave us USED shampoo and soap!!!! The bottle was half empty and filthy!!! No joke What's weird is that they cleaning folks like to get a head start on the day, so what happens? Our door opened up at 8AM and in pops the cleaning lady! Just leave the do not disturb sign on your door folks at all times... Again, we can go on, as there was other forgetful incidents, but this place is just not worth it
The city is awesome. I recommend to all romantics, but partyers must have a lot of fun too... Theme: HotelPrice: US$180 and up » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: 1225 Place Montcalm, Quebec, QC G1R4W6

Auberge internationale de Quebec on rue Ste-Ursule by Jefie The Quebec youth hostel (Auberge internationale de Quebec) is part of the Hostelling International network. Located on rue Sainte-Ursule, at the heart of the Vieux Quebec area, the Auberge offers excellent budget accomodation and a great location - from private and family rooms (including private bathrooms) to small and large dormitories, travellers are sure to find a room that will suit their needs and budget, while enjoying a great friendly atmosphere. Bedding is provided, there are kitchen and laundry facilities, and the rooms are very clean and quite comfortable. No wonder the hostel has won many awards, including being selected as one of the top 3 hostels in North America! Daily activities are posted in the lobby, which is great for people traveling by themselves as you are sure to meet other fellow travelers. The hostel is also very popular with Quebecois coming down to spend a weekend in the old city. Rates start as low as $26 - check the Web site for more information!
The location is great, and the rooms are way beyond what you would expect from a youth hostel. A really great deal! Our spacious room, overlooking rue Saint-Jean by Jefie, 2 more photos What's great about this hotel is its location - it is located on the lively rue Saint-Jean, right by the Carre d'Youville, and just a few steps away from the Old City. So you can drive up to the hotel, leave your car with the valet service and walk up to all the downtown attractions. And even though it is a prime location, the hotel offers pretty decent rates. It was built less than 10 years ago so all the rooms are new, clean and comfortable. At the center of the hotel, you'll find the indoor swimming pool and spa - in fact, many of the rooms offer balconies overlooking the pool area, which makes it feel like a year-round tropical garden. Also, the hotel's restaurant, Le Beffroi, is one of the best steakhouses in the city (and they mix the best margaritas!).
The swimming pool is great, and during winter time, there is an ice rink located just across the street.

I used my visa card to purchase a recent moose hunting trip at Fairmont's canadian location, Kenauk. I have been hunting Kenauk for 12yrs with a group that includes my father, cousin and friends usually at least 8 people. The trip costs me $3000.00 for a 6 day hunt. I paid in full a month before arriving for the hunt. On the fifth day of the hunt I shot a bull moose. My 75 yr old father who was hunting with me fired his gun at the same bull but mistakenly shot a cow moose standing nearby. The incident was investigated by the local game wardens and the resort manager Steve Dechenes. No charges were issued and it was acknowledged an accidental shooting by all. The moose was confiscated and donated to charity. One month later I rec'd a letter from Kenauk saying they charged my credit card $1139.50 for the indemnity of the loss of a cow moose. My fathers credit card was also charged. Furthermore he rec'd a call from Bill Nowells at Kenauk pressuring him to pay for the moose which he refused to do and was charged anyway. I never rec'd any communication prior to being charged. I contacted Bill after receiving my letter. He told me that if I didn't like it I could dispute it with the credit card company. I contacted Werner Sapp general manager of Hotel Montebello and Kenauk. His return email answered none of my concerns and it was obvious he had been misled by Kenauk management as to the situation. I have sent emails detailing my concerns and situation to Fairmont and have had no response. I don't think anyone at Fairmont hotels cares about their patrons. Even when notified of employees putting unauthorized charges on guests credit cards after they leave nothing was done. Fairmont Hotels needs to pay more attention to its loyal patrons and weed out unscruplous managers performing unethical probably illegal activities. We want to go back to Kenauk next year but Fairmont needs to investigate what happened this year. At a minimum I will never again use a credit card at a Fairmont facility, if I ever use one again! This is a great place to stay. The hostel is a recently remodeled historic building centrally located between lower and upper town. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were very spacious and clean. They had organized events for us tourists, ride share programs, cafe and a bar. So for about $35 Canadian you got all of this plus an all you can eat continental breakfast that had quiet a variety of things.
This historic building has been modernized with a wonderful glass walled "courtyard" type design. Also, there were multiple bathrooms on each floor which was very convienant.
