You will stay at the residences of Universite Laval. If the hostel downtown is full, this is not quite the same location, but at least you have a roof and some privacy. One bus away from dowtown and the prices are reasonnable.

This hotel is a bit out of the city, but with a car we were fine. As a matter of fact, we found some very good restaurants in a neighborhood between this hotel and the old city. There is a good casual dining restaurant right behind the hotel, and a grocery store too. The bathroom was really tiny, but the rest of the room was fine. Hotel desk staff were very nice and helpful. This hotel is right around the "corner" from a big main drag with lots of other hotels. We didn't find that street until our last day in town. Lots of restaurants and shopping on that road. We took St Louis Street all the way in to downtown when we went, a very easy drive. The hotel has a nice little pool area and a fairly fancy restaurant. Didn't eat there, but the girl at the desk said it was good, and there seem to always be enough people there. Be sure that if you don't speak French, you take a few phrases along with you just to be safe. We did find that we had a little trouble communicating if there was not an English speaker close by. The Old City is fantastic, better than I had expected! Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: "3100, chemin Saint-Louis"

front of the hotel from Rue St Paul by Tom_In_Madison, 3 more photos Located across the street and down about 4 blocks from the bus station. On a somewhat busy street, but it was quiet. It’s 5 minutes from the bus station, but walk up the hill outside and you’re in the Old Part of QC in 5 minutes. Overlooks Parent Square & the market. A day before I was leaving for Montreal my friend asked me where I was staying in QC. I said not sure yet, he gave me this place and number. I also luckily printed out some tips from here that had one from Deus_Ultima that listed this place also. My friends number didn’t work, must have only worked in the US, Deus’s phone number worked in Canada. I stayed one night, a sunday night in May. One person cost was C$85 + tax, came out to C$100. This is cheaper than most in Quebec City from what I can tell. Get out of Gar du Palais which I just took by bus. Walk past the fountain and cross the first street, which is Rue St Paul, and go left. Walk 4 or so blocks. It’s there on Rue St Paul, on the corner. Entrance is sort of around to the back. They have 8 rooms, but I heard they have more rooms across the street with more long-term facilities...not sure about that though.
The rooms were real nice. I had a room for one person, but had a big bed. Came with towels, a shower, a plastic sleeve of shampoo and baby soaps. Room had a tv, and windows that opened. I was impressed, as you can probably tell I stay in less than gorgeous rooms usually. There is a pool room & bar on the first floor, where the ‘office’ is. They serve breakfast here also. We stay at the youth hostel nearly everytime we visit Quebec City. The hostel, which has recently been renovated and enlarged, now offers some impeccable private rooms that are linked to the rest of the hostel by a glass tunnel. (If you prefer dormitories, rest assured they remain the main type of room available.) The other huge upside to staying at the Quebec youth hostel is its convenient location inside the old city walls. It is just minutes away by foot from nearly all of the city's main attractions, not to mention that the other buildings around it are splendid examples of New France architecture. The cooperative staff is always glad to help and to tell visitors of the main activities of the day. Don't hesitate to ask them for a free paper map of Quebec's top tourist sites. Pretty but this place gave me the creeps! by Electrcrio, 4 more photos Well when we planned our trip to Quebec City it was on the fly and when ever I think of Quebec City, the Fairmont is the only place that I think of. Sure there are tons of hotels both inside and out of the Old City, but with its forebodingness its hard to pass this one up. When we arrived I parked the car in the self-service parking garage, which was a bit expensive, and checked in. We were in the old part of the building and I had to run back and forth to the car a dozen times to bring all of our luggage to the room...And there were some sections that had steps and no elevators! But once everything was in our room we had no problems. The hotel is large and does cater to a more upscale clientele, however, we were treated no differently. The concierge was OUTSTANDING and gave us great dinner recommendations every night! Our room was a nice size and I was surprised when I walked in and noticed that it was laid out much like a real bedroom as opposed to the standard Hotel room. My husband used the spa facilities and did enjoy the massage he received. We didn't eat in the restaurant.
All in all it was a plesant stay. I would say to look around for a deal before heading to the hotel since it is quiet expensive, especially in the summer time and during the winter festival in Quebec. Liberty Travel usually offers some good deals to the Fairmont hotels in Canada. My only reservation was that there was a strange feeling that I had whenever we walked through the halls to get to the room and the elevator. But, then again, that could just have been my mind playing tricks on me!

My room 617 at Delta Quebec by jamiesno The Delta Québec Hotel is newly renovated with a stylish décor. The Quebec City hotel is located right downtown, steps away from Old Québec. This location offers an exceptional view of the Laurentian Mountains, the St. Lawrence River, Parliament Hill, and Old Québec. Connected to the Québec City Convention Centre and Québec shops by underground passage, the hotel is 20 minutes from Jean-Lesage International Airport, 5 minutes from the Québec train and bus station and in close proximity to skiing, golf courses, shopping centres, and many sites. It is a short distance from: festivals, sports and cultural events, all major Québec tourist attractions, in winter as in summer. I can tell you if your going to the Quebec Winter Carnival it is right along side the place where the events are held. Everything in Quebec is close by especially where the city is great for walking around.
The hotel has an outdoor heated pool which is neat! Actually getting around the hotel is a bit odd but the room I had was spacious and very comfortable. I wasn't impressed that in October 2005 you still had to pay for high speed internet. Most places now are providing that. Hotel Quartier by Bwana_Brown Arriving in the Quebec City area after a late afternoon departure from Montreal on our Oct./03 trip, my wife and I pulled into one of the first hotels that we came to in the city after crossing the bridge from Autoroute 20. It turned out that the Hotel Quartier exactly fit our needs for a Friday night of a long Thanksgiving Day weekend in Canada!
The price was right, at US$60/night ($73 with taxes), the rooms were clean and modern and it is located on one of the main streets leading directly into the downtown area of Quebec City. A bonus after a long day of traveling was a great restaurant next door! Unlike some hotels, our room even had an internet connection for my laptop for no extra charge!
