    Clean hostel in Tadoussac

    by

Moose Network stops for the night at HI affiliated hostels (generally). The hostel in Tadoussac was right off the main road.

The hostel is a simple place, the decoration is not fancy, but has nice large windows and a good view. We stayed in 4 bed dorms (since our group was large enough). I understand that there were some private rooms (with ensuite) but I didn't get to see them. As hostels go, the bunkbeds were comfortable enough, the linens nice and clean and the place was kept orderly. There was a bathroom at the end of the hall and shower rooms were downstairs (that part was a bit inconvenient) A fairly large hostel all in all.

The room was spacious enough that the 4 of us had plenty of room and quiet enough that everyone could sleep without being disturbed by revolutionary hostellers screaming and partying all night (there were none of those at this hostel). The hostel runs a campground nearby and their guests have access to the hostel facilities.

As at hostels anywhere, you have full kitchen privileges. They said there are three grocery stores nearby where you can get food, I didn't have the pleasure. Actually we had stocked up on food on the way at one of the towns supermarkets.

Unique Quality: There is dinner served nightly at a very reasonable rate. We had crab and it was delicious! Apparently, they serve Quebec specialties throughout the week. I seem to remember the price was $5-10 (don't remember for sure)

Good customer service and information point for tours in the area- including whaling.
One of the hostel workers (spoke no english at all) takes interested persons out to see the beaver settlement near the village, which was fascinating. I think the fee for that was like 5 dollars.

Directions: first right when you get off the ferry

"First and last port on the Saguenay River"

This is a convenient stop for sailors who want to explore this area. Aside from the numerous places of interest to make it worth a few days stay, there are stores within easy walking distance for stocking up.

"Take a walk"

Most sailors like to sail, but they also like to explore the area they are visiting. There are numerous walking trails in the area, so enjoy them.

THE FERRY RIDE IS FREE

"Ferry Boat at TADOUSSAC"

We are on a Ferry and another is approaching to replace us. There are three ferry boats in season so you do not wait long. It is a 10 minute ride across the river. The Highway ends here and they have not built a bridge across the Saguenay River as it is to deep and would cost a fortune to build

"Tadoussac Hotel"

There is a Casino at Point-aux-Pique not far from here.
