what's a classy dame doing in aplace like this?
Wanted in Moose Jaw? Not really.
I'm writing a novel about Canadian bootleggers, so of course I need to make a visit to the famous Moose Jaw tunnels. I'd love to stay in Moose Jaw and do some other research about the rumrunning era, though I'm not sure if there are any useful local resources - other than perhaps the public library.
Can anyone suggest any other interesting places to visit - either to learn something about the bootlegging era, or just to get a taste of Moose Jaw? Any other sites worth seeing in the area?
The tunnels buned a few years ago. Try North Battleford and Batoche for places to visit. Louis Riel was a rebel first.

then why is the tour company still operating tours?

The tunnels of Moose Jaw tours are operating, I attended a tour during the Christmas holidays. They did not burn, other buildings on Main Street did approx 1 year ago. I would describe the tour as entertaining rather than informative - it's a piece of theatre. There's a branch of the Western Development museum in Moose Jaw. The Temple Garden Spa hotel resort is a nice place to relax.

Did you know that Moose Jaw has a hot spring that you can soak in? On the fourth floor of Temple Gardens Hotel is a mineral spa. The healing waters are suppose to be very similar to those that the Romans bathed in in Bath, England. I was fortunate enough to be be able to watch the Canada Day (July 1st) fireworks from the hot springs. If you find yourself in this small town in Saskatchewan, the spa is definitely worth a visit!
After an insufferable drive across the southeastern portion of Saskatchewan into a blinding sun, we finally hit Moose Jaw about 8:30 p.m. on June 30, 2003. We had been held up at the U.S./Canada border crossing for an hour and a half because the vehicle in front of us had mistakenly assumed that it would be a breeze to bring drugs into Canada. Apparently, they did not realize that even the loneliest of border crossings has a golden retriever on duty. So all we wanted in Moose Jaw was a good dinner, some good Canadian beers and a good night's sleep. One out of three is still a .333 batting average (we got the sleep we needed).
