I'm not certain that anyone even lives here...
by SUSAMY
We took a whole roll of pictures, and I don't think there's another person in any of our pictures. So, for this reason, if it bothers you when strangers step into your photos... you are TOTALLY safe from that in Regina! Finally finding some people in the town... they were all in the food court at the mall. And then we found some more at the Casino. Strange place, Regina.
Echo Valley Provincial Park
by don_thomas
Regina is kind of "off-the-beaten-track" itself, but alright...
Echo Valley lies about 50 km north-east of Regina, just west of Fort Qu' Appelle. It consists of a huge lake (where the people dig a hole in the 1 meter-thick ice to fish) and some trails around it.
Buffalo Pound Provincial Park – with buffalo
by vtveen
Buffalo Pound Provincial Park is named after a ‘buffalo pound’, which was used by the first nations of the Canadian plains for hunting buffalo. In the park were once areas were the hunter corralled the animals. The plains bison were reintroduced to the park in 1972.
We visited Buffalo Provincial Park during autumn and ‘of course’ couldn’t use the summer amenities like a swimming pool, beaches, camp- and playgrounds, but still there was a possibility to make some walks in this scenic landscape of Buffalo lake and the surrounding rolling prairie hills, dotted with yellow coloured trees.
We started our walk(s) from the car park close to the lookout tower. First we hiked the ‘Bison Trail’, more or less along a buffalo paddocks. But we did see ‘our’ buffalo from the lookout tower; a herd of about 30 of these grazing ‘monsters’. (It is possible to walk to the Nicolle Homestead.)
After returning to the car park we did also the ‘Marsh Boardwalk’ into the wetlands of Nicolle Flat. The boardwalk through reed and cat tails ended in the middle of the Nicolle Flat Marsh on a place called ‘A Room with a View’. Ideally located for viewing (water)birds.
Directions
From Regina: Highway 1 to Moose Jaw, a couple of km’s before turn off to the right on highway 301, follow the signs.
Bushwakker's is the place to...
by lauriejeanne about Bushwakker's
Bushwakker's is the place to be!! Their home brewed beers are amazing! Just don't try the Strawberry Wheat Ale. I'm all for new flavours of beer, but I'll happily settle for strawberries on my shortcake instead! Their Saskatchewan Plate has an assortment of tremendous goodies including perogies and drop dead cabbage rolls!!!
Legislative Building
by vtveen
The Legislative Building in Regina is situated in the Wascana Centre and from the staircase we had a wonderful view of the skyline of downtown Regina with its skyscrapers. It has been built between 1908 and 1912 and has typical a neo classical architecture. The building is one of the oldest and at least the most impressive building in town with its 265 rooms.
Legislative Building houses the ‘parliament’ and the legislature of Saskatchewan. Most impressive is the view to the top of the dome, more than 50 metres high. There are beautiful painted ceilings and historical pictures and art works can also be found in the building.
It is only possible to visit the Legislative Building by guided tours. These tours are available every day and of course (in Canada) in French and English and conducted every half hour and free of admission charge.
The Legislative Building also houses the Cumberland Gallery, with Native Heritage art.
