Whitehorse - We stayed in Hide on Jeckell Hostel (pre-booked) - friendly and clean place 45 minutes walk from the airport up the hill or 20 CAD/2 people by a local private minibus.
Dawson City - Dawson City River Hostel (pre-booked) - we arrived after midnight as we had some car problems in Whitehorse but the owner was kind to let us in even though he thought that we are not going to turn up. Very wild and environmentally friendly and if you definetly require electricity, tap hot water and heated place, forget about this one.

Cozy Corner Motel: Cozy Corner

This is a small but comfortable motel at the west end of Haines Junction. There is a nice restaurant on the premises that is open for breakfast, even in the wintertime.

The best feature is that Cozy Corner is pet-friendly. You dont have to smuggle your buddy into the room in a backpack.

Talbot Arm: AlCan lodging

The Talbot Arms hotel is in Destruction Bay along the Kluane Lake. There is a gas station and restaurant here, and it is open year-round.

In May 2006 gasoline was 1.22 $C per liter.

This is a convenient place if youre travelling the AlCan. Its on the highway and you cant miss it.

Great cabins in Dawson close to everything, new clean and modern.

They take dogs!! and that rules!!...also the best food in town at the restaurant...good prices for the yukon too.

Kluane Wilderness Lodge: A Great Fishing Resort in the Yukon

Kluane Wilderness Lodge is a full-service fishing resort located 200 air miles from Whitehorse, YT on remote Wellesley Lake. The lodge features package prices which include round-trip float plane transportation from Whitehorse, all meals, use of fishing boats, etc. Guides are not provided nor needed, but lodge staff will often fish with guests and offer tips.

The property features a main lodge wich offers a spacious "living room" area furnished in quintessential Canadian fishing lodge style (see photo). There's also a dining area and kitchen.

Guest rooms are in outlying cabins, two guest rooms per cabin, each slepping two guests, for a maximum of 12 guests I believe. The cabins are rustic, clean and comfortable. Wood stoves are provided, but propane heat would be a plus on chilly nights early in the season!

The Lodge offers a classic, traditional Northwoods fishing lodge experience: fishing is extraordinary, meals are excellent and abundant, service is friendly and informal. The lodge's remoteness and the fact that all supplies must arrive by float plane make this an expensive undertaking, but I found KWL a bargain compared to some of its competitors in the Yukon.

Q: Winter traveling "I plan to travel from Alaska to Montana in October in my RV. Can anyone tell me what the weather/road conditions are like in..."

A: "It will be wet and cool. There may be an odd snow. The highways and main roads will be cleared and plowed if snow comes"
