    Pretty neat and chic place

    by

I am not recommending this place to stay as I did not rent a room there, so I really can't tell whether the rooms are nice & clean, the service is good, the food is recommendable, etc. I was only able to check some of the facilities out so that is what I would like to share, and also give some info about the rates (2013) in case anyone feels this fits their budget, desired location and wants to look further into staying here (website provided below).

Unique Quality: The hotel is right on a corner, in a very nice old building, very close to a big park. Even though it claims to be within the Condesa area, it's rather in the Roma Norte neighborhood, right next to Condesa. It is impossible to find a parking spot here during the daytime and the area in general is very busy, but it is very quiet late at night (especially at the weekends) so you should be able to have a good night sleep.

This is a design hotel which is decorated in a minimalistic style. It is not very big, but it has an inner patio where they have a cute restaurant, and they also have a roof terrace bar where food and drinks are served. Next to the bar there are some sauna and gym facilities (quite tiny, though). They also have a small library/reading room to relax. This place is not cheap - rooms run from 200 to 300 USD a night - and is not exactly within walking distance of the downtown and Chapultepec areas, if that is where you want to be. But the area has a nice personality and if you're fond of historic places and boutique hotels (and your budget allows it) this might be a good choice. I went there with some friends to have a drink at the bar and they loved the atmosphere and the place itself, it's a rather hidden gem and it was nice to get to visit it, at least for a short while.

Directions: On the corner of Veracruz and Guadalajara streets, next to a roundabout and just a few steps away from Parque España (park).

    Get a Top Suite

    by

In a very nice area of Mexico City.

Unique Quality: This place is EXPENSIVE. If you have the money, why not treat yourself to a stay here. The top suite is amazing and more like what one would expect a suite to be than the other suites available. The furniture is OK hotel furniture, but great for Mexico City. The best part about the top suite is the private terrace. It wraps around the entire suite so you can get on to the terrace from anywhere in the suite.
The hotel itself has a top floor bar. On one side there is a very tiny gym that includes a punching bag and 2 cardio machines. There is a room where one can order a massage. The top floor also has an indoor sauna and an outdoor hot tub.
The inside of the hotel has a nice inner courtyard restaurant.

Zona Reforma Colonia Roma is well served by public transportation , many bus routes dissect the district, and 5 or 6 stations of the vast Metro system are within a short walk. Centrally located in the city, popular tourist destinations are within easy reach.
a relatively calm district sprinkled with, wide tree-lined boulevards, parks and monuments. Although many of the large homes in the district have been converted for use as offices, restaurants and art galleries - the area is still, primarily, residential..

Hardcopy Chilango/DF Magazine in San Francisco, CA

by pgbogdweller

My wife and I will be in Mexico City 14-16 Dec (in La Roma) and on 31 Dec (at Condesa DF). I was wondering if anyone knew how to get a hardcopy of the DF/Chilango magazine in SF, CA prior to my trip (in early December)?

by alfredop

Have you tried the magazine itself by ordering a subscription?

Good Luck.

No, didn't really consider ponying up for a 1-year subscription and postage for an out-of-country periodical given that I only visit once per year.

Any other recommendations?
