Turibus: City Tour
by Manyana
i've stayed in town for 4 days only, and so was recommened to take a city tour. it was a good choice.
the tour is divided into two parts; city centre and the southern neighbourhood. the city centre is Zocalo, Condesa, Zona Rosa, Polanco and the tour is way much bigger. i haven't been to the south, so don't know much really. however, each tour may last approximately for 3 hours, total of 6 hours if you continue to be on the bus. you can feel free and hop off and on anytime you wish up from 9 to 9.
you'll be given a headset so you can listen to a tour guide on each area you pass by, either in spanish or english. i took the bus from zocalo where i stayed. since i was on my own, my eyes automatically lied on someone on their own as well. she had a seat on the fifth row on the right. i had mine 2 or 3 rows after hers, shying away.
it was a nice a lift in the beginning but then i said i'd do something and have a company. so i used my oldest and best trick ever; i suddenly got lost and was looking for the place on the map i was given, just randomly asking,
"hoy senora, hablo ingles?" pleaing for a tourist-related help.
"oui, je palrez espanol" a lady with a mexican feature replied
eventually i ended up with a mexican lady who spoke french and couldn't speak english. i was surprised - what a combination. she turned to be married to a french guy and living in france, and visting her family in mexico. we hopped off, had a nice mexican lunch, while communicating with malretarded french and disabled spanish. it was such a great fun

DAY 1
Go head first to visit Downtown and while you get there be sure to take Reforma Avenue to have a glimpse of Mexican traffic culture. Once in downtown visit the 'Palacio de Bellas Artes', y el Parque de la Alameda, take a touristic trainway (the tour guide only speaks spanish), visit the Torre Latinoamericana from where you can have a view from the city, from there walk along calle 5 de mayo towards Zocalo where the huge mexican flag will welcome. Have a look at the Cathedral and the Museo del Templo Mayor where you can see what remains of a piramid of Tenochtitlan in the city center.
Pulque
by malianrob
Try pulque, an unusual alcoholic drink favored by the Aztecs and made from fermented agave hearts. We did and it wasnt too bad. It taste like a type of cider. We actually liked it. At first I thought it would taste similar to tequila but I isnt like it at all.
If you get a chance to try it, do so.
Safety Pins
by Aptypo
You are wrong if you think you don't need them. Take a variety of sizes. If you are afraid of pickpockets, use a SAFETY PIN to fasten whatever you use for carrying money and documents to your pants, shirt or underwear. Note that the big pins are easy to open. Women can also use them as a small weapon to poke at a pickpocket, or if they are physically assaulted.

the RUINS
The Tulum ruins in Quintana Roo are located 131 kilometers south of Cancun, just 20 minutes south of Akumal on Hwy. 307. Facing the sea, Tulum is impressive and powerful. Known as the 'Walled City', Tulum was thought to be one of the most important cities of the ancient Mayan during its time. Fresco remnants are still visible inside some of the structures.
