Hampton Inn - I really like this chain...very nice and comfortable, yet still affordable.
Price of a 1 night stay was about $100.00 on a non-holiday night.

I will be making a trip in the summer to St. Louis. We are looking for interesting sites and attractions along the way and once we are in St. Louis...Any suggestions?
In St Louis--The botanical gardens are fantastic. When we went there a magnificent glass sculpture exhibit was on loan and was displayed throughout the gardens. Plan to spend several hours walking through it.
The beer factory is really fun, too. At the end of the tour you are treated to three beers (your choice).
During the summer you should also go to the Farmers' Market and of course, see the famous arch (You can ride inside the arch if you aren't claustrophobic).
My favorite place was the old train station. There are amazing stained glass windows inside the bar area in the ritzy hotel. Follow the "walking tour" inside the train station. It's fascinating!
For nightlife there is wonderful jazz.
By "Old train station" are you talking about Union Station area? Seen somethings about shopping etc. around there...
Thanks for the info on the botanical gardens...
There is Hampton Inn downtown that reviews have said that they are in a great location...any opinions on that motel.
Any other ideas are appreciated...especially on the area between Nashville and St. Louis....seems like a no man's land for attractions...
I am a senior female who likes to walk. I will be in San Antonio in mid November. I am looking for $100-130 per night, clean, well located hotel, at or very near riverwalk, in an area that is lively and safe to walk around at night. I will not have a car and do not care about a pool. I would like a free breakfast and free internet.
Thanks for any help
That price range around the River Walk is a little hard to do. San Antonio is a very popular convention city and so there is almost always a strong demand. There is a Hampton Inn close to the River Walk you could try, or just see what
hotels.com or similar sites offer.
The River Walk itself is heavily transited although there are a few sections of it that can seem a little desolated at night. But it's not known as a crime area.
Try the Holiday Inn Express at 102 El Paso St. I am going to be there in Late November. It is about 3/4 mile from Riverwalk, and the ratings by people who recently stayed there is very good. And they have a free shuttle to the Riverwalk if one does not want to walk. With taxes it was $125 per night bottom line. Have fun.
