Decent Hotel near Zona Rosa

Engaged this hotel through Expedia. It's a short trip from the Airport - about 15 min. in good traffic.

A small hotel w/ only about 35 rooms. Ours was a corner 'suite' - consisting of a sitting area w/ somewhat worn love seat w/ fold out bed and easy chair. It would have been nicer, but there was no lighting, so we didn't use it. Beyond was a sleeping area w/ king bed, dresser/desk and night tables. A pleasant window seat and odd sort of niche that housed a huge vase illuminated by overhead lights. Bathroom was sufficiently spacious w/ marble tile floor and walls. The shower was the best aspect of the room: very spacious area w/ sliding glass doors, 'rain' shower and attached high pressure hand sprayer. The mattress was new, but so hard it caused us some sleep problems.

Front desk staff were polite, helpful and efficient. Maids did a good job every day.

Location is about 2 blocks from the Zona Rosa, but one is required to cross the very busy Insurgentes ave. to reach it. At the end of the block on the corner was an attractive local 'cafeteria' - coffee house and restaurant. Within 5 blocks was the most busy street of the Zona Rosa - the pedestrian mall of Genova St. A wide variety of restaurants are found within a few blocks, along with many internet places and money exchanges.

Nearest Metro station is Insurgentes, about 6 blocks away. Peseros running Insurgentes are within 4 blocks.

More about Hotel Mision Zona Rosa

Zona Rosa - Mexico City

by gomexico

Lots of places from which to choose. By the way, the Zona Rosa is a diverse district - not a "gay district." It's the city's center for live entertainment - bars & restaurants - and attracts all sorts of people. Wander about and you'll find a place to your liking - it's a relatively small zone.

Take a look to the Mexico City Travelogues

This expansive city of 20 million and over a mile high is built on the ruins of Tenochtitlan, the ancient Aztec capital. Reminders of past civilization pervade the city, particularly at the Templo Mayor excavation and Anthropological Museum at Chapulltepec Park. Fine shops can be found in profusion in the Zona Rosa.

Mexico City, called D.F. (for Distrito Federal; Federal District) or simply Mexico, is the capital, seat of government and the center of commerce, finance and the arts; in addition to being the largest city in the world.

Did You Know?
Visitors to Mexico City will find a cosmopolitan city struggling with the effects of expansion and growth. Pegged at 2% growth per year, the population of Mexico is continually outpacing the efforts of government to provide services. That said, travellers will still find a pleasant, enjoyable and historic city lying beneath the surface.
