what is an interesting area / hotel near Juarez Aiport?

by emmet7

I will have two nights in Mexico city (one each way from Bogota flight) and I do not want to go too far or get caught in traffic but want to be away from airport surroundings, experience Mexico.

Thank you in advance for an recommendations.

Like most cities the airport is not in a very interesting neighborhood. However if you plan half-way decently its a quick metro ride right from the airport to the historic center, reforma neighborhood, or polanco/chapultapec ... its also not a very pricy cab-ride, just avoid rush hours on your way to the flight ...
To get the metro walk to the A end of the main terminal and just keep following the pathway. It costs 2 pesos, you buy tokens, and the map shows clearly how to get to Zocalo, or whatever station. If you are lazier or have alot of stuff, just get a taxi ticket outside the international terminal to your hotel - depends on your interests - for nightlife/restaurants go to reforma or Polanco or Zona Rosa/Condesa/Roma areas; if you like museums and go to bed with the sun the center or Alameda/reforma areas are great .. its a huge great city!

The airport is in the city, but, as pointed out above - not in the best of nighborhoods in which to base yourself. Travel to the center of the city takes 15-30 minutes by taxi and will cost, traveling in a secure/authorized taxi less than US$15.

Flight Bag/Overnight Bag

FLIGHT BAG/OVERNIGHT BAG
This is a small, LIGHTWEIGHT CARRY-ON that can be folded flat and takes practically no room when it is placed on the bottom of your bag. Tour groups often give them to their clients. Comes in very handy when you bring back more than you can place in your luggage.

El Cárcamo, an unique work of art. (2)

Nevertheless, six years later of inaugurated, the work already presented a deterioration.

The artist wondered to his daughter Ruth, who worked in the INBA (National Institute of Fine Arts), about made managements so that he could take part in the replacement of all those zones damaged by the tremendous force of the circulating water.

Is until 1977 that the INBA, through their National Center of Conservation, processes an opinions about the state of conservation of the work, the channel of the Lerma river change its course surrounding the Cárcamo to permit the restoration of the Rivera's work, which never had been previously.

The work had undergone a great deterioration. The low parts, the submerged ones in the water filled of the slime, organic matters, salts, hardened oxides, which paradoxicalally helped to protect it; whereas the parts that were not in direct bonding with the water yellowed by effect of ultraviolet rays of the light.

There was conserved between 85% and 90% of the original painting of the walls, not therefore the one of the floor of the water mill, it was necessary to replace 64 meters of work with base in photographs of the time.

The restoration works of El Cárcamo took more than two years.

With the re-opening of the museum, the historical, artistic and cultural patrimony is rescued to benefit more than 80,000,000 of Mexican and foreign visitors whom Chapultepec Park receives each year!
