I loved it here. I went with my father, mother, and brother. The people were great and the food was excellent. We even met these really nice people who let us ride their wave runners for free. the room was spacious and nice.
one of the things i didn't like too much was tht the pool had no heating so it was kind of cold. but aside that it was a pretty nice place.
Going Back in Two Months

We had such a great time, we didn't want to leave. We would have stayed another day if friends we were with didn't have to be back at work. We stayed in July and are planning to go back again in early October. If you like lazy Mexican vacations, this is the place. I highly recommend endulging in a pool-side massage. There were three families that went, including ours. While our room was the one with the least appealing view, it was to be expected because we planned the trip on a moment's notice. Friends with us, called before we left the States and asked about cancellations. They were able to get a GREAT room with the front door opening to the pool and the back patio opening to a beautiful view of a palm tree covered courtyard and the bay. We actually could sit on their patio and watch the baby Grey Whale Calf that was stranded in the shallow waters of the bay. What a treat for the 6 small children with us. We took desired items with us, such as the children's bike and scooter. They had a wonderful time riding along the boardwalk in the morning. We ate at the restaurant the first night. We experienced great food, reasonably priced. The Filet Mignon for $15.95 melted in your mouth! The next evening, we sent the men folk out to the local taco stands for dinner. They brought back the most delicious shrimp and Carne Asada tacos, ever! So, good, we went back for breakfast burritos the next morning. The Chorizo and Machaca were out of this world and much cheaper than the breakfast buffet at $14 per adult. We took milk and cereal and other breakfast and snack foods for the kids. The poolside grill makes fairly tastey food and the Shrimp Cocktails are wonderful and well worth the $10 price tag. They are filled with jumbo shrimp and HUGE chunks of avocado. The pool was filled with children, so we agree if you are looking for a young hip, singles crowd, this may not be the place for you. But, it you take friends along and are able to go with the flow, you should have a great time.
Estero.. Interesting Place

When my friends and I intially got there (July 2004) we were very impressed by the size of the resort. The rooms were large and had a balconey (or at least the one's we got) but they didn't have a phone, tv, or a fan. This ammenities weren't a big deal since we were swimming in the small pool with a bunch of kids. The resort itself is clean and well kept. If your planning on just staying around the beach and pool this is a good spot. If your looking for the nihgt life it's about 10-15 minutes away. They have entertainment there, but the party is over at 11:30. (Don't have to go home, but you can't stay there)
The resturant is overpriced and not that good but you can go to other Taqueira's in the area and get good food. Overall it's average. A little overpriced but it's manageable.
Not good!

This place was really bad. Bad directions. Bad handling of the room reservation. Bad smell in the room. Leaky plumbing - we couldn't even use the toilets and shower.
Checked out a day early, and adios.... never again!
Little Cancun

well, I've been a visitor at Estero Beach for 10 years. at the beging it use to be a excelent place to stay but recently its been a nightmare, last few years I visit Estero Beach I had bad service at front desk. also, they need to renovate the rooms at resort specially the bathrooms. I also think they need to work on there managment they need someone who knows how to run resort not a motel. Also they need to lower the prices. This is not Cancun mexico or five star hotel. they need to drop the prices and make affordable to all visitors. Alsotheyneed to make some adjustments on there menu at the resturantotherwise service an managing the resturant is excelent. They need to work on satisfing customer. other wise its a O.K place to stay for now. rate 2star resort.
DON'T STAY HERE!!!

Deciding to stay at this so-call "resort" was the worst vacation decision we have ever made in our life. The front desk service was miserable. We were scheduled to stay for 4 nights and after one night we decided to leave a night early. We asked for refund for the fourth night and they were downright rude about it. We stayed in a "kitchen cottage". The mattresses on the bed's were at least twenty years old. We probably would have been more comfortable sleeping on the floor. The tap water was disgusting (not only could you not drink it, but it was disgusting even to shower in). This is definetly not the place to go if you want to relax. Lots of family's with unsupervised teenaged kids who take over the pool, drink lots of alcohol, etc.... Each evening we were treated to the sound of a lousy, "garage style" band, blasting the music until 11:00. Explosions from fireworks also made it absolutley impossible to sleep (not that we could in the pathatic excuses for beds). The final night we stayed, we had new neighbors who decided to wash out their kids diapers in the bathroom. The smell was horrendous. I could go on about the way they nickle and dime you to death including charging you for lounge chairs at the beach, no air conditioning, to cooking utesiles in the kitchen....We couldn't leave soon enough.
Wouldn't go back again!!!

This was a dirty, poorly maintained hotel that tries to represent itself as a resort. The front office staff was very disrespectful while guest are checking in. They can be heard swearing and speaking lewdly in spanish (assuming we did not speak spanish) as we checked in. The room was dirty. The bedding had past hotel guest bodily fluids. The bathroom was infested with ants and the floor was filthy. The water pressure was extremely low and made showering quite unpleasant. The extra fans that were brought to the room were covered with dust. Even the remote control on the TV did not work. There is not even a phone in the room. The view was very nice, and the pool was pretty but you could not charge anything at the swim up bar to your room. I rarely carry cash or credit cards when swimming. If you are looking for a place that is a step up from camping, this would be for you. For the price you are paying, you can stay somewhere else that is actually a "resort". I say go to Hotel Coral and stay away from this place.
aging resort needs real help

Estero Bay Resort is in serious need of a major renovation. The fifties-style architecture is way past its prime and should be updated for both safety and comfort. Also needed is a fresh management team with a totally new set of standards for service and maintanence. Few things work as advertised; the beds in the cottages are the worst we have ever encountered and there is no attention to detail anywhere. Sinks do not have stoppers; lamps are broken or have burned out bulbs; patio door screens have holes and do not slide; and the obnoxious extremely loud bathroom exhaust fans, one could write a book listing all the annoying flaws. Maids try, but guests should not have to ask for clean floors (our feet were black after the first 10 minutes).
Standards everywhere in the resort need a serious upgrade. Food in the restaurant is at times fair, but service is, to put it kindly, leisurely. It took us at least two hours for Sunday brunch, which was not by choice. Further, even cocktails like margaritas can take as long as 20 minutes to be served; yet they cost a pricey $4.00 and are mediocre at best. To add insult to injury, they are often served in a styrofoam coffee cup.
Be prepared to be hustled by peddlers; even while sitting on your terrace, someone is always attempting to sell you something. Also the nightly bar band and fireworks were mere feet away. Maybe a plus if you are a teenager; we are not. Ear plugs are mandatory if you plan to sleep. The scenery is great, the beach clean and the views nice, but not much else positive can be said of the place.
Love Estero Beach

Ensenada, Mexico is a great place to visit. Especially if you live as close as southern California. The city is relatively large, espicially for Baja California. It contains 260,000 people.
The downtown area is very lively, especially at night, with many nightclubs to choose from. The Lopez Mateos Street is very clean and picturesque. The dining is excellent. The port area has also recently been remodeled and is very pleasurable to be around. The Lomas de Chapultepec area overlooks the downtown and the rest of Ensenada with some spectacular views. There are also large mansions on these hills.
The fishing offshore is excellent. It is some of the best fishing because of its rich waters.
The Estero Beach Resort was also outstanding. It offers many activities, inlcuding snorkeling, scuba diving (the waters are very clear and contain kelp forests), jetskiing, kayaking, horseback riding, banana boats, basketball courts, etc. The beach is small but it is very attractive for swimming. The resort also has a nice pool. The only downturn to the resort is that the rooms don't have phone lines. You have to make your calls in the parking lot on public phones.
"La Bufadora" is another area very well suited for sightseeing, as there is a blowhole which sprays water very high up into the air.
The only downturn to the city in general is the offensive smell which is present in a small area of a popular street, but it is very noticeable. In the end, I thought my experience in Ensenada was excellent. I would recomend this trip to anybody thinking about going to scenic Baja California.

I have stayed at Estero Beach many times over many years and have always found the staff helpful and courteous. The bad review I just read made me mad!
