Swimmable beaches in Cabo

What resorts have good beach swimming?
Re: Swimmable beaches in Cabo
by ViajesdelMundo
Most of the beaches in CABO area are at least somewhat dangerous, probably as you know, and partially dependent upon time of year.
this website appears to have some detailed info: http://www.loscabosguide.com/beaches/cabosanlucas.htm and also: http://www.loscabosguide.com/beaches/beachlst.htm
Swimming is much safer and easier further up into the Sea of Cortes'; you would go north from the airport about the same distance, vs going south to Cabo. Go to LOS BARRILES, where the main resort there is LAS PALMAS de CORTEZ and has a lovely beach, which you can see on my Los B. page under Things to DO: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/f8c86/e60a0/

Thank you for your comment. We haven't decided where yet, but this is most helpful since we do like to use the ocean.

Medano beach is on the Cabo San Lucas Bay, the hotels there have the best/'safest' beaches as the undertow is not as bad as in the rest of the beaches. I go there with my son all the time and we both have a wonderful time. Keep in mind that Medano is also the beach where all the water activities are so it's quite busy and noisy. There are good restaurants there. My favorite time is the early morning before the place gets drowned by the loud music and jet-skis.
The only other place I would consider safe is Cabo Pulmo.

Go parasailing. You take a water taxi from the beach out to one of the speed boats used for parasailing - much safer than actually taking off from the beach, as I did in Cancun. They actually allowed these two ladies to parasail in tandem, which I don't think many places allow. (I don't know them, they were just on my boat.)
Packing List
by Goner
Just a small bag on wheels should be enough, you don't need any heavy clothes. The bathing suit is a must! Evenings between October and April can be cool so a jacket may be needed. We didn't need one in February however. The rainy season is most of July through September and a rain jacket might be required. The pharmacies and stores have all the stuff if you didn't bring it. I didn't buy any film down there so don't know if it's expensive or not, best to bring it with you. Don't forget the suntan lotion - the sun can be very hot. Bring good walking shoes, some of the streets and sidewalks are uneven and old.
Take the local bus to wherever the bus goes
by mingtsainy
It was definitely an eye opening experience. Less than a quarter mile outside of the beach resorts and golf courses are homes and stores where the local population live. The disparity in wealthy and quality of life between the tourists and locals are mind blowing.
I met another couple at the airport on my way back and they said the same thing. Cabo San Lucas is built by foreigners for foreigners. It's definitely a reality check for me and I thank whoever is up there for all my blessings.
How can you say no?
by grkboiler about Peddlers
While eating dinner or sitting at a bar outside, little kids will often come up to you selling small toys, sculptures, gum, and other things. (Some of them are pretty good at bargaining for their age)
This is one of the fun things about Cabo - the kids are very serious about their products, and never hesitate to give a demonstration. It is great to see them smile when they make a sale. The hardest part is saying no and seeing the disappointment in their faces, but they don't ask for much to begin with.
Classic Tourist Stop & Hang-out
by toddakiyama about Giggling Marlin
*So if you're coming to Cabo,
The Giggling Marlin is definetely worth a tourist stop by.
*The bar/nightclub is fun place to come for a drink or meal and enjoy the activities being put on by the staff
*The staff has a number of fun shows and activities you can participate in or just watch
*Make sure to get your picture taken out front by the Giggling Marling sign.
I got mine taken and used it for holiday pictures one year..classic tourist picture!
*The main tourist thing to do inside is to pay $10-$15 USD and get an opportunity to hang upside down like a marlin on a fish hook.
You'll get to take down a shot and a souvineer picture!
Definitely a touristy type activity!
*For those of you looking to party it down, this places its more crazy later at night after dinner *No dress code, anything goes
