    Good last minute resort

    by

Each room faces the ocean however you do need to be above a certain level to actually see it. Don't worry, the lower levels still get to see sand, palm trees, and some awesome pools. Ours was just below the tree level but I'd rather be out on the beach looking at it anyway. The room was nicely finished with tile floors big living space including sleeper sofa for stowaways who you don't claim when you make the reservation ;) . Clean, comfortable, and has a nice latin theme....it felt like I was in Mexico, even in the room. For Cabo (I repeat....FOR CABO) the price was really not bad.

Unique Quality: The restaurant and bar is built into the cliff side behind the hotel connected via a bridge. Go eat breakfast up there....not in the restaurant, but on the patio outside of the bar area! My machaca was really good but the view is the kind that makes you slow down and sit there all day just staring.

  • Finisterra is Fantastic!

We definitely recommend this hotel. We had a pacific view side and it was beautiful. The service was great and everyone was friendly and accomodating. We were there for our wedding and honeymoon and we mentioned this as we were checking in and arrived at our room that evening to complimentary champagne and chocolate covered strawberries! We also spent some time at the pools, one of which has a swim up bar, which is fun. The beach and ocean were nice to look at and fall asleep to, and the food is actually pretty good (though somewhat overpriced - typical for a hotel). It's about a 10 minute stroll to downtown or a brisk 5 minute walk though the marina. There's a decent size hill up to the lobby from the main street, but they have a shuttle that goes up and down the hill if you need it. The beds are hard, but that sounds typical for hotels in Cabo. We adjusted rather quickly and got many good nights' sleep.

Unique Quality: This is a huge hotel and no matter whether you stay on the pacific or marina side, the views are fantastic.

Directions: On the pacific side, adjacent to the Marina and Sea of Cortez

BETWEEN THE PACIFIC OCEAN AND SEA OF CORTEZ

    by

Hotel Finisterra is a true resort with not only a prime location on top of the hill overlooking the bay and the town of Cabos San Lucas on one side but with the beach and Pacific Ocean on the sunset side. Deluxe accommodations are in the Palapa Beach Club with private patios, mini-bars, marble floors, and a sunset view. A great restaurant in the hotel as well, the Blue Marlin.

Unique Quality: A fantastic pool to spend the lazy days in or by, with a view of the giant palapa and the pacific ocean beyond.

Directions: Opposite the harbor area, on the hill.

    Approx. US$175/night

Unique Quality: It is the only hotel that has the Sea of Cortez to the east and the Pacific Ocean on the west. The hotel itself juts out from the cliffs with an amazing view of the town and the two seas! Our room overlooked the pool area which is sectioned off into 3 levels w/ 8-10 jacuzzis on the corners of the 3 big pools. Of course, having the Palapa restaurant is nice and convenient for easy access to drinks! :) The concierge service is very useful and they will set up all sorts of activities for you, as well as making reservations at any restaurant in town.

Directions: Cabo San Lucas - at the tip of the Baja Peninsula.

Finisterra is a Great Place

by A TripAdvisor Member

Stayed with my girlfriend at the Finisterra this past May, it was fantastic. A really great place to vacation. The staff was amazing, treated us like we were at the Ritz. The room was great overlooking the pool and ocean. I thought the food was very good, three different pools, one with a swim-up bar. 24 hour room service. Location was great and so was the activities desk. The ONE problem with Cabo is the riptides...meaning you can't go in the water. So if you're a beach person, Cabo isn't the place for you. But I HIGHLY recommend the Finisterra. Super Place.

The Finisterra is always great.

I'm a little late with this review since my stay was Sept 22-29th. I actually got there the 23rd, the hurricane hit on the 22nd. You could not even tell that the resort had been through a hurricane. Everything was very clean and orderly as always. This was my third stay at Finisterra and each time has been very good. This time I stayed in the newer Palapa section. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. There are many newer resorts in the corridor, but taxi rides cost way too much. For staying "in" town, the Finisterra is my only choice. The resorts by the public beach are much noisier and the beaches are crowded. Of course, you can't swim at the Finisterra beach due to the undertow, but otherwise, its just about perfect. The service is very good. The staff has always been very friendly and accommodating and this trip was no different. I recommend this resort highly.

Great Vacation as usual

by A TripAdvisor Member

Just returned from our 5th stay at Finisterra. The resort is in a great location, easy walking distance to town. The pool areas are super...even though only one is heated. They have plans to heat one of the other pools. The Palapa Beach Club area is the newest and rooms are nicer. The only drawback is the Playa Grande resort next door. This monstrous resort has taken some of the Pacific view away. We went on a time share presentation there. The resort looked nice, but way too many people. I don't know how anyone can find a lounge chair at the pool unless they show up before sunrise. The staff and service at Finisterra is very helpful as usual. They really go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Wonderful time!

My recent trip to the Finisterra Resort was very enjoyable. The service was great, and the accomodations were really nice. Although swimming is discouraged, there are ample pools and jacuzzi's, and plenty of lounge chairs. The staff keeps everything clean and orderly, and the landscaping is beautiful. Everyone seemed to be very helpful. I ate breakfast in the restaurant twice, and it was really good. I ordered room service for dinner twice, and the meals were mediocre to good. The restaurant could use some improvements in its quality of meals. However, there are also many restaurants within walking distance, as well as utilizing taxi's. I especially enjoyed the private beach, being able to walk in the early mornings to watch the sunrises, and to sit on the beach to view the sunsets. Beautiful place!

Best Place to spot the Whales in December?

by Margag

Where is the best place to spot the Whales and is it possible to see them around 11 of December?

RE: Best Place to spot the Whales in December?

February is the best time, generally. The best place to spot them is on the Sol Mar beach...they "round the corner" of the Cape and swim north. Best bet would be the Whalewatcher bar in the Hotel Finisterra. Even if you don't see whales it's a beautiful place to hang out.

There are lots of outfits that offer whale-watching excursions.
