Restaurants near Sirena Del Mar

by artdee57

I hear there are no evening meals served at Sirena Del Mar ( Welk resort) only breakfast and lunch unless it is in your room. Will we need a car to see other places to eat?. Are there any within walking distance or do we need to get transportation? I am surprised to hear this. We will be there in Oct for 5 days

Unless you are good at hiking or walking long distances in the desert, i suggest a taxi, which can be expensive in the Corridor where you will be staying, to go to dinner or buy groceries and cook in your units kitchen. Take a look at the Google Earth map to see the surrounding area of Sirena Del Mar. I am sure that a restaurant or two may open soon but the restaurant zone is about 4-5 miles away in downtown Cabo San Lucas. Ask your Concierge if they have a shuttle to town or how much the taxi would cost to go and return from town. There is no set rate in Cabo for taxis. The Cabo website should help: http://www.loscabosguide.com/

There are a few restaurants in the Corridor near where you are staying. I looked over the website I suggested and found the Corridor restaurants. See the webpage: http://www.loscabosguide.com/dining/dincor1.htm

Travel Tips for Cabo San Lucas

Bad rental experience at Loma in San Jose Del Cabo

by FC49

In an effort to make sure that you all have good vacation; I wanted to share with all future travelers to Cabo the bad experience my family and I had in renting a condo in San Jose Del Cabo.

We rented the condo in Lomas De La Jolla in Cabo for a week and we were very unhappy about the facility that the Joe Testa provided with his condo. Let me give you a quick list so you understand what I mean:
- THE BREATHTAKING VIEW = THE NOISY ROAD: Lomas De La Jolla is NOT a resort (as described by Joe) but a small apartment complex on the side of the busiest & nosiest road in Cabo. If you ever been to Mexico, you know that the trucks & the cars can be very noisy, do you really want to see and hear this during your vacation?
- THE OUTDOOR FURNITURE: The patio is nice (if you use ear plug to forget the trucks) but you can not seat outside because the chairs are totally broken.
- THE UNDERWEAR: When we arrived in the apartment we found somebody else Panties (I am not kidding), not even hidden, it was on the top of the bedroom furniture. It shows you how well maintain the condo is.
- THE AC UNIT: All the other apartment in the Lomas De La Jolla complex use the external AC, but Joe Testa is so cheap that he installed and old indoor AC that is so noisy it become un-usable (it's closer to an Hoover than AC) and in July you need AC if you want to sleep.
- ONLY HALF THE LINEN: The description says “extra linen's and pillows”, the reality is that there is only 1 set of (old) linen, so if you want to use the extra bed you have nothing (nice one Joe).
- HALF THE SIZE: The “1100 square Townhome” advertised include the patio, but the condo itself is only half of that.
- FAKE PHOTOS TO PROMOTE: To my amazement, if you search for “Sanjoes Villa” you will see that Joe advertise this condo in on the VacationRental web site and uses photos that are NOT from his apartment (the photo of the bathroom and the TV) this is pure FRAUD. - THE WATER LEAKING: The watering system has a major water leak that floods the patio. Joe Testa blamed us for the water leak and decided to keep our deposit to fix his plumbing problem. After all the above problems, an educated owner will have given us a refund, but no Joe Testa (from South Redondo Beach, California) decided that he will not even give us our deposit.

So, if you want to enjoy your vacation, rent with somebody else, because Joe Testa (of Sanjoes Villa) will certainly rip you off.

Speaking Spanish is not a...

Speaking Spanish is not a prerequisite, but understanding how much things cost certainly is. Brush up on your ability to convert your money into Mexican Peso's. Its a good skill to have when you are about to spend a large denomination bill for something inexpensive and expect to receive change back. Your clerk, attendant or server may try to keep it as a 'small' tip.

ATV Tours

by grkboiler

ATV tours are very popular in Cabo. There are a few tours available and they are reasonably priced. I took the lighthouse tour, which lasted 3 hours. You ride through town and onto an area with trails, and it can be enjoyable. It costs US$45 for a single and $60 for a double, and prices are usually the same for all companies. Tour guides are included on all trips. You can also rent an ATV by the hour or by the day. All tours should supply you with the basics - goggles, helmets, and bandanas.

Always remember ATVs can be dangerous and cause death if not used properly.

HIGH IN THE SKY

by travelgourmet

Whoa. This is even better than wave running. I mean, to be up in the sky being pulled by a speed boat across the bay is a thrill and when you say higher, up you go another 20-30 feet, till you are high in the sky. High on the thrill for sure.

The last stop in bar hopping

by Sonador3 about El Squid Roe

All drinking roads lead to El Squid Roe & Billy Kitchen! Start off at the Office, head on down to the Giggling Marlin, and then end up at El Squid Roe. It's the place to drink tequila, get sweaty and stagger out ***-faced at 4 in the morning!

The drinks are tasty, the music is appropriately loud, and the MC is always obnoxious. The sawdust on the floor encourages falling down and puking. Hey, is this place set up to party, or what? This place is totally friggin' off the hook! No dress code, just don't show up naked. Or better yet, show up naked -- it'll save time!
