We are traveling for a wedding at RIU but are not staying there. Has anyone done this? I was told they charge $100 for a day pass. Any advice would be helpful. Also,do you know if there are any specific timeshares offering US dollars to attend a presentation? Also, any specific recent deals worth considering? THANKS for your time and advice!
RIU facilities (there are multiple) are a bit of a rip-off as they require 80% of the wedding party plus the bride and groom to stay at the facility in order to pay to have the wedding there.
Also they charge guests to enter. Here's a quote from their web site:
"If I have guests who want to attend the Wedding, but will not be staying at Riu Hotels & Resorts, is this possible?
Guests staying in other hotels must purchase a day pass to attend the ceremony and dinner reception.
Day passes are between $50 and $100 USD depending on the destination and hotel."
Do a tour! We went to Todos Santos for a few hours on a bus tour provided by Rancho Tours and had a great time. It's an artists' town and there are many galleries and souvenir shops. We saw some amazing art and bought a piece which was shipped to us. We ate at Tequila Sunrise and had the best margaritas ever! The bartender even told us how to make them! The food was supurb and we didn't want to leave.
The baggage handling at the airport in Cabo leaves a lot to be desired. If you are bringing something delicate (like wine for example) pack it well. Very well. It seems I have been packing lighter each time we go. However, the hotel we stay at (The Westin) has laudry facilities. But I always bring one pair of pants and a light jacket. Hat and sunglasses are a must. SPF 45 for my fair skined Irish wife. Although if you forget something or run out of supplies there is always Costco, Mega (San Jose), or Soriannas (San Jose).
There is great surf at the Rock and Zippers right beside the Cabo Surf Hotel....Good clean rights...Can hold up to a 25 foot swell.
Catches mostly a good southwest...Watch out for rocks....lots of em........
The town of Todos Santos is well known by the tourists for its Hotel California. The story goes that this is the hotel where "The Eagles" wrote their song. If this story is true or a fairly tale you can find out on my Todos Santos page...
There is lots of nightlife in Cabo, you see all types of nightclubs up and down the streets. Since we didn't frequent any I can't give you any tips, but as you can see in the picture of a local nightclub - they have it all.
