huichol collection

by johnsmolowe

anyone know if the huichol collection store in cabo san lucas is still in business?

Re: huichol collection

by ViajesdelMundo

I live not too far from CSL and don't know what place you are calling 'the' Huichol collection store, but if your particular place is not still there, I imagine you would be able to find plenty of places that sell maybe a smaller selection.

If you had more specific info, I could try to find out for you. Were you wanting to order something, or are you going to be here?

thanks. there was for many years a store with the name "huichol collection." it still shows up on a google search, for example, here is a link: http://www.fodors.com/world/mexico-and-central-america/mexico/los-cabos/review-158544.html
the address given is boulevard marina & melchor ocampo. i remember it being downtown on the wide main street that curves around the marina, a couple of blocks from the water

yes, it is that particular store i am asking about, because it carried large, high-quality pieces. the phone # exists, but i don't get an answer when i try to call.

How long ago was it you were actually there?? A lot of shops have closed in the past year due to the drastic drop in tourism; OR, if it is only recently that you tried, it is possible that they are just closed during this the height of the hurricane season.

I don't go down there very often, but may be going again before too long and will try to make a note to check it out for you.

Travel Tips for Cabo San Lucas

by bfiesta

If the service or the food is good you should always tip... and tip well. The minimum wage in Mexico is $5.00 US a DAY! At times I have gotten a somewhat cold reception when I have given a tip... like a 'whatever' kind-of feel. But I chaulk that up to not only having to work in the service industry but having to deal with the throngs of touristas on a daily basis. I continue to tip well and 98% of the time my tip has been received very well. Indeed, happily.

The three sporting events I would aspire!

by josephljtwrk

There were three sporting events I found myself engaged on. Sport fishing, Winbeldom, and World Cup Soccer. Two of them I could follow by the news and on any television and anywhere. But sport fishing in the deep for an exciting expedition was real. I am sure my father had a ball but my attractiveness to the ocean has its limits. Anyhow early at 6:30a.m. saturday morning they rented a Vessel, Captain, and Major to take them out to the Pacific for what could be known as the deep. They caught fish almost immediately. A yellow finned tailed Tuna and a Mahi Mahi. The awesome experience didn't end until we went to Baja California and Captian Tony's on the marina to have the fish barbegued, blackenned, grilled with garlic and cappers, fried, and served as sushi and called shi shemmi, and finally prepared in vericose and sauted with bell peppers. Even experiemented with batter fried fish eggs for their virility. There rental where activity included. Although a man is always prepared to reel. Don' t be so easily convinced of a good time. Trust your various friends and shop for the best all around package of temptations.

Sunset Beach

by grkboiler

If you can get to Sunset Beach on the Pacific Side for a day, I would recommend it. It is on the other side of the mountains on Cabo's west end. The beach is usually empty because you cannot swim there, which makes it great to lay out and relax. Walking the length of the beach is also recommended. There are rock formations and amazing homes on top of the mountains to look at.

Guests at the Pueblo Bonito Rose can get a free shuttle to the Pueblo Bonito at Sunset Beach which leaves once an hour. You will be dropped off at the resort and taken to the beach or pool. This resort is the only resort on the Pacific side of Cabo, and the resort itself is worth seeing.

Dance Till You Lose a Flip-Flop

by modrocker about El Squid Roe

This place is the best night spot I have found in San Lucas so far. The crowd is mixed ages and backgrounds but mostly 20 and 30 somethings. There is space to sit along the walls or to people watch from the balcony. The music is mostly top 40's stuff and the drink selections are typical for Mexico.

I personally don't like crowded dance floors so my suggestion if you feel the same way is to get there closer to 10pm when there is still room to shake it. There is no official dress code as far as I could tell. However, I would suggest not wearing flip-flops or other shoes that come off easily. Walking across the crowded dance floor is the only way you can get from one end of the club to the other. This leads to the loss of shoes, trust me on this one. You really don't want to be stumbling back to your accomodations with only one or no shoes.

Nowhere Bar

by grkboiler about The Nowhere Bar

The Nowhere Bar is a small place with a bunch of tables outside on the marina. There is a small dancefloor inside but not enough room to have a lot of people dancing. The music is good - they play a little of everything. Tuesday is ladies night, so girls drink free from 8-10.

This is a good place to go if you want to relax and have a beer, or to kill time before going to a night club. It is also a good people-watching spot because it is located on the marina and plenty of people walk by on the way to restaurants. None.
