La Jolla de Los Cabos d208: Great beachfront condo in Cabo

by winthy

i would highly reccommend this condo in cabo. we have stayed here many times, the new owners recently redecorated and refurnished it and it is awesome. luxury accomodations at very fair prices. san jose del cabo is more mellow and relaxing than cabo san lucas but there is a lot to do. La jolla d208 is right on the beach in san jose del cabo, my kids fished in the morning (caught roosterfish and sierra right on the beach in front!) and surfed later in the day at surf breaks 100 yards away. You are able to rent surf boards at costa azul surf shop. The new owners put in vonagephone so we were able to call the US for free. They also have internet in the unit and at the pool. I have to admit , i felt a bit guilty checking my email poolside while my friends were freezing back in seattle.

awesome views, great pools, great beach,the condo is very clean and very comfortable. we will defintely stay here again.

budget hotels are all around

by cachaseiro

in southern baja you have budget hotel in just about every little town you pass.
they generally cost between 10 and 25 US dollars for a night.
they can mostly be found near the town center and i personally love these little places where you opt for a local feel to the place instead of the luxury of a 4-5 star resort.

the feeling that you are in mexico.

Siesta Suites: Nice & reasonable price in Cabo San Lucas

by cchiuching

As stated in its website,
~~~Clean, quiet, comfortable hotel suites located in the heart of Cabo San Lucas. Just two blocks from the marina, nearby bars, restaurants & shopping~~~
100% agree
every day i asked the receptionist to help me call a tour company to make verifications or reservations...no problem...even though they themselves provided travel services too
the staff were very helpful and friendly~
USD55 + tax in 2006 Jan
u will need detergent, spice, oil etc if u plan to cook yourself,
though there is a kitchen.
maid service - USD2 per day but they would not wash your dishes
(in akumel in cancun side, maid service USD1 per day including dish washing~)
TV in bedroom
nice room
friendly staff
efficient reservation on the net
convenient location - u can just walk around to marina, flea market
parking outside hotel on the street
Cabanas/Studios and Bungalows as VACATION RENTALS
I stayed in a cabana for 6 night in Jan 28 - Feb 02, 2006.
originally i sent an email to Dr. Everhardo, the owner, checking availability.
Oh~ no rooms available.
But Dr. Everhardo was very kind to help me find out that a cabana next to him was available -Attilio Cabana (USD$ 65 per night if pay in cash without a receipt, no tax added), yet the owner could not speak English, so Dr. would be my middleman.
When i arrived, Dr. said that one of their guests gave up a reservation and a cabana was available, i could choose to stay in his cabana then.
That was dinner time, Dr and his wife were having BBQ chicken wings.
They invited my b/f and i to have chicken wings too.
we chated for some time and then i forgot to ask for the exact cabana rate, just knowing that his wife said that the rate would be less than USD65.
Dr was even willing to lend us 500 peso on our arrival on SAT night, since we did not have any peso but USD cash but local restaurants only accept peso. I need some local cash to buy dinner and to spend Sunday. We could go to exchange money on Monday only.
Dr was very informative in telling us which beaches are a must visit; which tour company to join for snorkelling with sealions; which restaurants gave good seafood, cheap lunch, gorgeous butcher selling cheap fantastic T-bones etc.
He even helped us to grill 3 fish in mexican way, after our fishing day.
we really had a nice stay~
But then when the time to pay for rent came, i was very surprised that he charged me USD65 per night.
Since i paid in cash and did not require a receipt, he did not charge me tax.
i could not remember what's the rate posted on the website.
($ 290 US FOR A WHOLE WEEK + tx)
i did not say anything but just gave him the rent then.
I was a little unhappy about this but i did not speak out. Just a pity.
http://www.geocities.com/everhardo/cabanas.html
well-equipped kitchen~
spice, detergent, pans, plates, cups, salt, sugar, all there.
mattress made noise whenever ou move on the bed since the plastic wrap was not removed~
no change of towels since this is not a hotel~
no extra supply of toilet paper unless u ask for it~
photos in the website 100% reflect reality~
Las Palmas RV Park: A Comfortable Oasis
by luv2trvl
Off all the campgrounds I stopped at on my trip through Baja. I was most impressed by Las Palmas.
The grounds are nicely landscaped and well maintained.
At Las Palmas there are 30 sites, some with full hook ups. A few of the sites even have a palapa or a little paved patio.
The showers and toilets (flush style) were private and kept clean. Also, if I remember correctly, there was even a laundry room. This place was one of the nicer RV Parks I camped at and it wasn't unreasonably priced.
Take a trip into town and have a meal, or just walk around and view the blend of Mexican and French Colonial architechture that is unique to Santa Rosalia.
Hotel del Pilar: Todos Santos is Warm
by endofnight
We went south and found warmth . . . but the first day wa windy so we sought accomodations in the town of Todos Santos. At 250 pesos a night, we kept staying another day. A wonderful and beautiful and warm town. Very comfortable accomodations at a very reasonable price.
Price and flowers and coffee (a la starbucks) downstairs. Walking distance to the whole town., fish tacos down the street.
Hotel Yeneka: Funky Hotel in the heart of La Paz
by windsorgirl
Hotel Yeneka is in a great location minutes from the cathedral and the Malecon. Each room has unique mural paintings and the central courtyard is filled with all sorts of interesting "artifacts" including a Model T Ford and a stuffed monkey. The courtyard makes for a great place to meet fellow travellers.
Playa Juncalito: Watch pelicans from your tent
by worldtrekker
Great view of the Sea of Cortez. We watched pelicans fly back and forth for hours! They'd fly in one direction and simultaneously, they'd all dive for fish. Then those that were lucky swallowed a fish and they'd take off again in the other direction. This went on and on...
