    El Moro Hotel La Paz

    by

Club El Moro was recommended on a web site that listed pet friendly hotels in the Baja. Other people we talked to also said Club El Moro was one of the better places to stay on the Malecon of La Paz.

Located almost at the south end of the Malecon and right across the street from the Sea of Cortez, Club El Moro offers clean, air conditioned rooms and suites starting at $80 (US). A small suite is $120 (US). The suites have a kitchenette, dining area and living room with a separate bedroom.

The beds are comfortable but a little too stiff for my tastes.

Unique Quality: Most all rooms are on the first floor, although they are building a two story addition. The outside bar and meandering pool make for an oasis like setting. There is also free wi-fi access.

Toll free number from USA & Canada - 1-866-375-2840

Directions: Almost at the southern end of the Malecon on the right side of the road.

  • Nice Quiet stay across from the sea

We stayed at the El Moro for 2 weeks, during the first part of April. We were on our honeymoon. It was fantastic. It is done in Morrish style with wonderful hadcarved wooden furnishings, lovely hand-painted mexican tile in the kitchen part and the bath. The surroundings are as if you are on your own lovely island! It has a little cafe' attached that serves breakfast and lunch, but is closed for dinner. The staff was very helpful in helping us rent a car, snorkle with the sea lions, and keeping our room clean. We took an inflatable kayak, blew it up in our room and carried it across the street where we were able to kayak up the coast to some great litle beaches!

Unique Quality: Handpainted mexican tile, handcarved furnishings, tropical flowers, nice pool and cute little bridge strung across it. Wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. Even a laundry building! My grandfather paid for our trip, I think he had worked out something with the "head" of the place, Riccardo. I would recommed calling to see what deals they have.

Directions: On the end of the main road throught town.
