Good Fishing
Good fishing on both the gulf and Pacific side of Baja. We traveled in October, weather was very nice fishing was fair. Decent for dorado, sometimes tuna, more often known for moderate marlin and sailfish.

I'm going to Baja Sur for the first time in April and we're getting a vacation rental for a week in La Paz. Please help me choose between 2 comparable casitas - which would you choose?
We are looking for a place that's quiet/ peaceful but within 10 min walk to the best parts of the Malecon and any other main shop/restaurant/cool local areas.
#1 is at the intersection of Antonio Navarro and Francisco I Madero
#2 is at the intersection of Republica and Revolucion de 1910
(If you don't remember street names you can see them on Bing)
Any help is appreciated - thanks so much!
the corner of Rvolution and Republica is the better situated for being close to the Malecon and centre of town, for sure.
If you tell me the names of the places, I may be able to give you more specific info as to how quiet they may be.

About 60 miles west of La Paz across the desert is the town of Todos Santos. It is a cute little artist's colony with a fair number of American expats on the Pacific coast. It is much cooler than La Paz, about 10 F on any given day. It has some touristy trinket stands and a few nice restaurants and a cute little church. The beach north of there is deserted and open for a relaxing day of nothingness.
It is home of the famous Hotel California, supposedly where the song was inspired (more likely not). A pleasant day away from La Paz or Los Cabos, well worth the trip.
La Paz is on the east coast of the Baja penninsula - situated on a bay and is oriented west - thus one gets sunsets. And what amazing sunsets. La Paz residents pride themselves on still being a Mexican town.
The malecon wraps around the bay of La Paz - meandering on the malecon in the morning, at noon, at sunset, or in the evening is a wonderfully sublime simple pleasure.
For winter grey whales migrate from Alaska to numerous bays on the Pacific side of the Baja penninsula to give birht and mate. It takes about 3 hours to get from La Paz to Bahia Magdelena. If you're lucky you may even get to touch a whale.
We took a guided kayak/boat trip from Loreto to La Paz with Baja Expeditions, camping on the beach. What a trip! Words can hardly describe it, so I'll post as many pictures as I can.
I want to say "Thank You!" to Jesus and Diego, our guides, and also to the entire crew of the Rio Rita for making our trip so memorable and fun!
