Relax on the Beach

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on February 20, 2008

The Inn at Loreto Bay was purchased by Homex in 2010 and ":sold" again in 2013 to Groupo Carso (Carlos Slim). The name was changed to Loreto Baja Spa and Golf Resort and then again to Loreto Bay Golf Resort & Spa at Baja. The the downturn of the Mexican building industry has impacted the area and not much has been done other than to replace some of the beds and apply new paint.

Accommodation ratings are a bit over rated but the Inn is the only hotel in the "new" Loreto Bay area right now. I've stayed in most all of their "types" of rooms and I must say the Master Suite is my favorite (Room 301).

All of the Master Suites are over sized, have an outside patio area and best of all a jacuzzi. What better way to relax after a hard day on the beach watching the waves roll in.

PLUS if you have to work while on vacation (some of us never really escape) the wireless Internet connection is very convenient especialy when sitting outside sipping a local libation.

Unique Quality: FREE wireless Internet connections. The larger suites have very spacious patios facing the ocean.

The smaller rooms that face away from the water are much less expensive and if all you need is a place to sleep without any ambiance, this would be the choice.

Unfortunately the new owners Grupo Carso (AKA Carlos Slim) are not the best at managing hotels. The hotel is no longer dog friendly and the restaurant is barely passible. With Carlos Slim's bank account perhaps they just don't care to have visitors. This is unfortunate as there used to be many tourists that stayed there with their dogs.

Directions: From the Loreto Airport: Left on Hwy 1 for about 7 KM. Left at the entrance to Loreto Bay (you can't miss the exit). follow the signs to the Inn; about 1 mile from the Hwy.

Hard beds but new management bringing great servic

This is one of the few beachfront properties in the area. They recently changed ownership and it is now called the Inn at Loreto Bay. The beds are a bit firmer than I like, but so are most of the hotel beds in Mexico. They have a spacious property with a good sized pool and plenty of activities for young people including basketball and watersports. If you are going to play golf while in Loreto this is probably the place for you as it is just up the street. It is about 10 mintues south of Loreto by car so either plan for an occasional taxi trip or rent a car. Either is easy to do without too much thinking.

Unique Quality: Sunning out by the pool is always fun and the showers are especially spacious. The food could be better but I am picky so take that for what it is. I really liked the Ejecutivo Sandwich. It was a beef and cheese sandwich that suited by meat and potato senses quite well.

Directions: In Nopolo about 10 minutes south of Loreto. Near the golf course
