Woman Driving Alone

I'm going to be in SJC and surrounding area for two weeks this Dec-Jan and I'm getting nervous about driving alone on some of the stretches of highway (I'm going to be making my way from SJC to Todos Santos and then on to Loreto).
Any thoughts???

Figure out what exactly you're scared of ..car breaking down_ robbery_ its actually a fairly short stretch and make sure you drive during the day.

The roads are just fine. I've done the drive a few times and have had no issues. Just ensure you always have gas.
Watch yourself in the mountains just south of Puerto Escondido. The trip is about 8 hours depending on construction stops.
In SJC, check out the wine stroll on Thursday nights (if it's still going on during the holidays). The art galeries are great.
When you get to Loreto (Loreto Bay actually 9Km south of town) stop by FN358 in Loreto Bay for a drink.
If you need / want any suggestions for restaurants or places to go/do in Loreto just email me on VT. I live in Loreto Bay part time.

Nerves of steel, gas up the car and run for the border....they can only kill you. If you just don't want to drive alone, get a dog to keep you company. You should have no problem, but no gurantees. Cheers Tommy x

Great Drive. Look up TRISH. viajesdelmundo on VT. She lives in East Cape about 40 minutes north of SJC on the Gulf side.

If you drive up the pacific side from Cabo to La Paz, then leave real early. Stop in Todos Santos and have breakfast at the "Hotel California". Purchase a bottle of Tequila from there (red bottle) Unique back in US

Perhaps it's not only something typical for San Jose but rather for all of Baja, but since I had it tehre for the first time I will tell you about it here.
CLAMATO! For some of you maybe nothing new or special, but when I had this drink for the first time I did not quite know whether I should like it or not. For those of you who don't know what it is, let me briefly describe. Clamato is almeja (clam juice), tomato juice which you will mix with beer or booze, squeeze in some lime, salt and Tabasco. And now tell me if you would drink that?! It tastes like spicy-sour fish with tomato. Best time to drink it - sunday morning after a long night out! Enjoy.
