Very nice but hard to find!!

The Hotel Chablis is an excellent hotel in a very quiet location. It can be difficult to find though. If you are coming to Palenque from Highway 186 the turnoff for the hotel zone it located in is BEFORE you get to downtown Palenque, which is surprisingly large and crowded. If you come upon the roundabout that is just before you get into the downtown area and has a sign pointing in the directions of the ruins you have come too far. You will be making a left turn before that roundabout off route 20. There are only a couple of streets you can make a left hand turn just before the roundabout, but you will know when your on the right street as you will see a bunch of tightly packed hotels and cobble stone streets. You will come to a T in the road in front of a hotel and then you take a right. Once you get in the general area you will be able to find the Hotel Chablis simply by asking....don't be afraid to ask someone. Be sure to follow these directions as I never could find Merle Green St on the map and you do not want to make the mistake of driving into the downtown area, which again, is a crowded heap of humanity and narrow streets. The hotel itself was very charming and again located in a quiet area. The hotel offers free WiFi and I was able to use my CDMA phone to surf the internet without a problem. The location is excellent, just try not to get lost. I booked through www.allstays.com but I would recommend googling Hotel Chablis and price checking the different websites that book this hotel. I stayed in September of 2007 and paid about $65.
