Hospedaje Jardin: Puerto Arista most amazing turtle experience ever!
We have arrived to this charming little village not knowing what to expect. What we have encountered was a beautiful long beach with barely any people. After visiting places like Mazatlan, we could have not dreamed of a better place to run away from the buzz of mass tourism. We found the place to stay very easily, thanks to a recommendation from a driver who brought us from Tonala.
We stayed at a lovely little hospedaje ( Hospedaje Jardin ) that features a small pool and a garden just steps away from the beach, which was one of the most friendly places I have come across in my life, and I do travel a lot :) the owners of the hospedaje recommended straight away that we visit the turtle sanctuary just up the beach, where, at sunset, we had one of the most amazing experiences of our lives, releasing 800 baby golfino sea turtles into the ocean!
The following day, we made a day trip of the Boca del Cielo, a nearby peninsula separating a laguna and the open ocean, which was also extremely tranquil.
The locals told us that during the busy periods of the year, around Christmas and the Semana Santa, Puerto Arista becomes crowded with tourists, but for the rest of the year it's much more peaceful. Getting from one place to another (Tonala, Boca del Cielo) is easy using local transportation (in combis or taxi colectivos).

Hotel Lucero: Hotel and restaurant
Lucero is a pretty descent hotel in Puerta Arista. Attentive and friendly staff that appears to be a family. The hotel is across from the beach and the restaurant is on the beach. The rooms in the hotel are large and in good condition. There are adult and childrens pools at the hotel and across the street at the restaurant. The food is very good and the beer is cheap. There is gated parking inside the hotel compound for added security. The posted rates are a bit high, but they will rent you a room for US$40 a night if you ask for it and it is not a busy time of year for them like Christmas.
Restaurant on beach and 4 swimming pools.
