San Rafael: Not on the A list

We had a pleasant stay. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. We didnt have a tv, or fancy accomodations and the place could use a redecoration. Oer all it was good and we would stay there again. THere were some cheaper places in town but you should know that some of them were older and very basic. But it was a charming little town and we had a good time. If you want a fast paced night life and fancy food, go to Manzanillo. If you want to lie in the sun, surf, swim, drink and chill, this is the place. It was more expensive than most of the others in town, But it was the only one with a web site.

Black sand beach, cheap drinks. a tortoise farm and a salt museum.

Unknown, two story white building: Where we stayed

I don't remember the name of this hotel, but it worked out well for us. We had a room with 3 beds in it for US $14 per night (5 years ago). One of the beds was lumpy, but we survived. The rooms were clean and the hotel felt safe. There were always maids and hotel employees around. We kept a styrofoam cooler in the shower and kept some groceries in it. There is a large balcony overlooking the beach on the second floor that has a couple of tables on it. We often had coffee or meals out on the balcony. There is also a restaurant downstairs.

This place is right on the beach and very inexpensive.
