Manzanillo , I have to admit, was a let down. There is a huge oil refinery that is pouring black smoke into the air 24/7. And a huge shipping hub right in the center of town. I m sure it is a major source of economic importance for the city. We rode from one end to the other trying to find a hotel and we found the two extremes. There were a few resort/golf resorts on one end (Very expensive) and a naval base . And there were several other places that didnt look to inviting. We did find an area in Playa Santiago with several hotels that were clean, very reasonable and right on the beach. But the availability for entertainment and food was a little bleak. But the big let down was that the majority of the beach was sold for private homes and condos. We were on a road trip and just pulled in to try and find something. Im sure there are some nice spots there, if you can stand to breath the air.
