From Guadalajara to Barra de Navidad & Manzanillo
"Road trip"
We were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to party on the beach. So we hit the road from Guadalajara and drove to Barra de Navidad. We took the free roads and spent five hours in the Sierra Madra mountains. It was a breathtaking drive. At several points we were in the clouds and I dont think we drove in a straight for hours. When we arrived in Barra de Navidad, the hotel we picked was supposed to de two blocks from the beach. It was more like 3/4 of a mile. And the area was severly lacking in nightlife and variety of restuarants. Now if you want a quiet time to lay on a beach and chill, this would be perfect. It was lovely and there were a lot of fishing boats for hire. It just wasnt what we were looking for. So we drove on to Manzanillo. Which turned out to be a disappointment. We hadnt made plans to stay ther so we took a chance and drove throught looking for a hotel. It was smoggy, bleak for hotels and crowded with private homes and condos. There was a resort area that we had search on the internet but it was not in our price range. So it was on the the next place. We stopped in Cuyutlan for supper which is another small spot for chilling in the sun. Then we drove on to Colima to spend the night. It was a bit depressing that we didnt find a party on the beach. Maybe next time.
