Homage to my grandfather
He was born in Durango in June 1916 and died in February 1999. He was a writer, poet, lawyer, judge, professor and representative to the Mexican Congress in 1988-91. He is remembered by the Durango Society of Writers every February 7th.

The homages are in the rectory building of the UJED, Universidad Juarez del Estado de Durango (Durango State Juarez University), just a block from the main square.
Entrance is by the gate seen at left of this church.
He wanted to rest in the patio of the UJED. Me and other family members put his ashes in this pine, especially brought from the Durango range. It was about just 2 meters then. Now it is about 7 meters tall. My grandfather is growing up very fast and strong!
During his homage in 2004 there was a conference, a reading of one of his poems, a painting inspired by his work was presented, and one of his friends, a renowned musician, played a composition he liked a lot.
Among many others, his cousin was present with her husband. That's me with them.
Many writers, admirers and friends assisted. Here are some at the tree.
Here I am with my grandfather. If you ever go to Durango go visit him.
I miss you, old man. Your talk was always wise and elegant, your thoughts never were trivial. You raised a great family and left eternal words. Keep growing in that tree.
