Hotel Blanquita: Backpacker's option

If you are that kind of travelers that don't care about comfort, big resorts and all that kind of stuff... this little hotel is a good option. It's in the heart of the "Zona Piel", two or three blocks from the bus station and maybe 15 or 20 minutes walking to the downtown (or "Centro Antiguo") area...

The good things... it's clean, safe, close to the bus station and cheap. You can get rooms with or without TV, which makes a little difference in the price.

{Anyway... if you think it's not cheap enough, when I was leaving Leon I saw a cheaper one behind the bus station}

Hotel Fundadores: Convenience and Value in Downtown

This hotel is simple, clean, and quiet with a phone and cable TV in every room. It is located in the Centro Historico on a pedestrian-only street and it was the most quiet hotel that I slept at during my whole trip in Mexico! This hotel even had a bellboy who hauled my monster bag up a flight and a half of stairs for a tip. It cost 190 pesos for two people and 275 for three people.
