The "Diana" fountain
by Laura_Mexico
This is the "Diana" fountain, very similar to the one we have in Mexico City (another great spot for you to visit, please check my site out!), which is right at the entrance of Acapulco when you arrive here by car or by bus (when coming from Mexico City, Cuernavaca or any town north of Acapulco). It's one of the main points of reference in town and there's a lot of commerce around it. It's located on the Costera Avenue, too.
Packing List
by madigap
We use multiple use bags, with hanging space, packing space, and many zippered pockets. We use the bags with built in wheels, thereby avoiding having to haul heavy luggage on our shoulders. I carry one small bag on board, with medications and toiletries, so that if anything happens to the clothing bag, we can at least have the necessary things. If you're fair-skinned, be sure and take and use sun-screen. Some kind of sandals or beach shoes to wear all the time, since you could step on anything on the streets, or even on the beach; Sunglasses, hats, tropical weight shirts and shorts. Bathing suits and pareos (wraps) for wear after leaving the water. (I bought one in Acapulco, and plan on using it at home, too.) Sunscreen, Anti-Diarhheal medication, any prescription medications, with a copy of the prescription from your doctor if you might need to get a refill while you're away. You can buy medications in Mexico, and they are mostly the same as we get at home in North America, some without a prescription in Mexico that are prescription-only in the USA. Disposable cameras are everywhere. If you use special equipment, be sure and not let it out of your sight. (As anywhere) Since I am described by Bill as a 'Computer Nut', I just had to try the Internet Cafe' at our hotel. I was able to log on to my local server, read and answer my email, and if I had wanted to, could have surfed the 'net very easily. The cost was pretty small. I stayed an hour, and it cost about $10.00 US. I highly recommend this for any other 'nuts' out there.

Getting around Acapulco is great fun. The so-called Disco buses run from Walmart along the Costera right into the old town and cost 3.5 pesos per person. The 'Beetle' taxis, of which there seem to be millions, will take you anywhere. Make sure you negiotate the rate with the driver before you get in. It should cost you no more than 20 pesos to go along the bay and 30 pesos to go to see the divers at La Quebrada. There are larger American type taxis, probably equipped with air-conditioning, which I understand are two or three times more expensive than the Beetles, but I did not use them.

Beach Volleyball
by toddakiyama
*There are volleyball nets set-up on the beach.
*Either the locals have set them up and you can easily join in on the fun
*Or if the beachfront restaurant has set-up the nets, all you have to do is order your drinks and food from them to play volleyball
*We met some really great people while playing volleyball, although it isn't something I normally play. You'll meet both locals and other vacationers.
