cliff divers

by drebo

In Jan. four of us (female) will be in Alcupulco. We would like to see the cliff divers at night.
Should we go through NCL or is there a safe alternative that would include transportation to and from as well as a good location to watch the divers? Will we need to make reservations? If so, where and how?
Thanks!

You can book it once you get there. It might even be cheaper. If your into timeshare presentations you might even get it free :)

Any taxi driver can, easily, take you to/from La Quebrada - the location where the dives occur. I'm guessing that the cost of doing this on your own will be less than the cruise line charges. But, if you like the comfort of being with other travelers on the ship, tag along with them in the group. Depending upon the time of your ship's arrival, you could have dinner in the Zocalo area - say, at El Amigo Miguel - and then take a taxi or walk the relatively short distance to La Quebrada. Or, you can take a taxi to La Quebrada and walk back down the hill to the Zocalo and sit in one of the sidewalk cafe's and watch the parade of people pass you by. The streets in that area are safe to walk back and forth, IMO. If you have a Mexico travel guidebook, have a look at the Acapulco section, there's a good description in most (I like both the Moon guide to Acapulco - which I think is the best - and the Lonely Planet Mexico/Acapulco guides).

Hi

My wife and I were in ACA on the NCL Spirit in November. Tour 701 "The City Tour With Cliff Divers was $45USD pp. It is quite safe and a lot cheaper to go on your own. Have a great time.

Travel Tips for Acapulco

Acapulco Tip

by gkitzmil

I believe Acapulco has the capacity to deliver a number of experiences to the visitor but not the beaches of a Cancun. I was 110% happy with my trip and will eagerly go back. I wanted total relaxation in 'Real Mexico.' I was happy I stayed in Caletilla beach, the old original Acapulco so that I could speak Spanish and relax. My chosen hotel, the Boca Chica is moderately priced and while a bit outdated in furnishings it is excellently located with a view of the beach, the bay, and clear out to the Ocean. It also is on a point so that I was literally surrounded by water!

I did not want to pay the $100 - $300 payed by many tourists at the 'big name' hotels for a nearly US experience on a bay beach that is dangerous. Caletilla is the safest and most sloped beach in Aca.

Others will find the nightlife of Aca' fun -- but I did not go for that. I did not even check out the clubs. If I wanted a good margarita they had great ones at the open air restaurant and bar at the hotel.

Disco Beach, Andromeda,...

Disco Beach, Andromeda, Paladium, etc.
All you drink is included in the cost of your entrance. And some nights are lady's free. So you actually don't spend a single peso.
Disco Beach is a disco ON THE BEACH, at night you can see the black sky and stars and listen to the waves on the sea and feel the breeze from the ocean. LOTS OF FUN.
BUt what makes of Acapulco THE place to go, is its friendly people. It's the perfect place to match up with someone. Anyway you want if you're blond and good looking. OTher wise you have to look 'nice'

Go to Los Tacos!!!

by NicoleHull about Go to Los Tacos!!!

It's a great place to hangout during the day for lunch and beers because it's on the beach. Plus you might meet some cool people there. Regular chicken and cheese tacos--extra spicy!! They also have this sweet rice milk you have to try.

This was the BEACH , little bit outside from ACAPULCO . It is situated in direction of the airport . The water is beautiful and not so many peoples at the beach . Here you can meet the mexican style people . Opposite of the beach you can see the rich people of MEXICO live , here at the end of the public beach begins the private beach with a lot of beutiful expensive houses .

"Cruise Terminal Northern bay of Acapulco"

*As you disembark from the cruise terminal, you will pass the first section of shops.
I tend to avoid these shops unless it is a must need ie water, sunscreen, etc.
The prices tend to be a bit higher than in other areas.

*Internet, phones, fax
There is shop here you can log-into, use the computer, send email, make phone calls.
It is a little more expensive than in town, but sometimes I do prefer to get my work done or call home before getting carried on with my day.
Also, if you need help calling home, it may be simpler here since you can get help with that from English speaking attendands

Last minute gift items
If you have to board the boat, this is your last chance to buy items to take back with you
