Too much expensive for nothing!

We went to this resort for a 7 days vacation (january 10th to 17). We're a young couple of 25 years old and we have been really disappointed by the staff, the food and the tranquility.
1- The Staff: They gave us a room with a disfunctionnal safe. We asked to have a room with a fuctionnal one and the only room left, had a double bed. No service at all if you want extra bottle of water pass 1:30 am because our "all inclusive" finished at this exact hour. So, what's happening when you're really sick? Drink the water from our bathroom? That was ridiculous! And good luck to have service in english!
2- The Food: Simply... Terrible! I'm allergic to a lot of things (fish and chicken) so having a decent meal exept salad was hard to have! And most of the time, there was not much of salad left! Always the same food and cold... a 4 stars food hotel? Give us a break! And we had to wait to sign after our meal... hey! we're on vacations! No time to waste on waiting!
3-The Tranquility, the calm: If you go there to relax, go to another resort! We heard it was noisy but I never thought it would be that bad. It's simple! I could'nt sleep even with ear plugs! And worst, we were hearing people talking in the room beside of us... Plus, the hotel were doing some major reparations so good luck if you want to take a nap in the afternoon!
4-The cleanliness of the place: The maids are working hard to keep this resort clean... that's the only good thing! Especially when you wake up one morning and someone over the 10th floor got sick and threw everything's out on our balconee! So beware... don't leave your clothes outside during the night!
5-The bars: Do not expect to have service there. Most of the time, even if you tip them, you won't have fast service neither a smile. Once the pool bar close, the only entertaining you can have is in the lobby so do not expect to dance... even for one night!
6-The beach: The beach is beautiful but we can't go there to enjoy the sun because you have to pay the chair to the mexican people. So, most of the time, we were staying on the property of the Crowne Plaza.
So, what is positive about this place is only the weather. Beautiful and hot everyday.... but for the rest, it does'nt worth the price we paid. Go somewhere else if you want to spend quality time in a nice hotel because this one is now in our black book! Let know your travel agency that this resort is not a 4 stars... it's more like a tourists attrap!
What a trip!

I just returned from my vacation to the Crowne Plaza in Acapulco Mexico. Before I left Toronto to enjoy my vacation, I have noticed some nasty reviews about the hotel, and the staff. Well let me tell you... The Hotel was great, the staff was awesome, and the food was edible too. I hope that you all dont think that when you go on vacation, the food is going to be like home. The hotel is full of activities. The only thing I wasnt happy about the hotel was as minor as our toilet not flushing all the time, but even then if we called front desk, there was a plumber in our room, in less then 10 mins.
Things to watch out for... The water- DONT DRINK IT
- the ocean... if you go in, make sure you can swim
just remember,..... party like an animal..., and negotiate everything. it was awesome, and we will come back anytime!
oh, and a good hint to get good service... TIP.
Hola to everyone there now, and who has just returned! Email me ne time!
Cheers,
Gabriel S.
Fully deserved 4 stars in mid-February

It's too bad the reviewers reporting for stays during January were not there in February. My wife and I would not have booked (for Feb. 10-17) if we had read those reviews before doing so, but in retrospect we're delighted that we hadn't seen them. They give a totally false picture of what we were about to experience -- one of our best one-week vacations ever, and certainly the best in our experience of "all inclusive".
All staff -- from reception through waiters and maid -- were a pleasure to deal with (and, contrary to one recent comment, this was quite without tipping prior to departure). The signing of chits, presumably for internal audit purposes, was but a minor nuisance and often not even requested -- never at the pool bar (but always at the poolside hamburger bar -- where the hamburgers and fries were excellent). One reviewer's concern about the risk of signing chits would have been allayed if s/he had realized that "T.I." at the top of the itemization meant "all included" -- i.e., not to be charged to the room; if that is missing, then ask why. Another's complaint about the buffet selection being the size of a kitchen table is demonstrably false (or was, when we were there). It is U-shaped, with each of the long arms being some 6 paces long (15-18 feet). One arm contained an abundance of various sliced fruits and salads, the other an array of 10 hot dishes (various meats, eggs, veggies; and at breakfast pancakes and French toast), headed, at breakfast, by an omelet chef serving to order. The base of the U carried a variety of croissants, juices etc at breakfast, desserts at lunch and dinner. And so forth. The food could not be described as gourmet throughout, but was certainly of good quality and taste throughout. We were permitted two (rather than one, as formerly) dinners at each a la carte restaurants as part of our "all in", and there was also a "theme" buffet available at one or other of three more restaurants (including Nude on the Beach) each night. We were sufficiently satisfied with the main buffet and its variety that we made only partial use of these alternatives.
Our room (with balcony, all in) was elegant, clean, and well serviced. One minor complaint: the safe in the room not only didn't have a lock but could easily have been carried out the door; presumably this is part of the renovations remaining to be completed. Also, the clock-radio could not be set as an alarm clock; but it would gladly have played our own CDs, had we known to take them along! (Where have you ever seen that before?) Since there was an occasional 4-second power outage that reset the clock time to 12, it is perhaps just as well that the clock not be used for wake-up calls. A request to the front desk for a wake-up call worked perfectly, to the minute.
Altogether, it was a great week and we hope to repeat it. The suggestion that the Crowne will cease "all in" bookings is a blow to us. We hope it won't happen. We looked in on a 3-star and a 5-star hotel for comparison. Some may prefer the 5-star, but only if they accept that there will be an attendant in the washrooms, waiting for a tip while you pee. Ours was a great 4-star vacation.
Great time at the Crowne

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza from Feb.10th to the 24th and had a great time, the pool bar staff and lobby lounge staff as all the staff we just great. The only one complaint I have is one night the food at the buffet was cold other than that no problems we would certainly return to the Crowne.
Thank you to Marco and Mario at the pool bar, Jorge and Francisco at the lobby bar for the great service
Great Hotel! Our biggest problem was...
by TripAdvisor Member Leenerbean
All in all we were very happy with our stay at the Crowne Plaza. - Good food, good staff, nice room, beautiful beach, cool pools.
One of our only annoyances was that the hotel managment did nothing to stop one large group of 20+ rude, drunken Americans who managed to ruin the time of anyone who was unfortunate enough to pick a beach chair in their vicinity. These loud mouthed, rude hicks took over the pool, used lewd and disgusting language, cannonballed strangers and were completely obnoxious to be around.
When traveling to a family resort and spending a good deal of money, one has an expectation of a certain amount of decorum. However, these hicks were allowed to continue unchecked the whole week we were there (Feb 19-26). Of course, everyone deserves to let loose and have a little fun on their vacation, but it's also important to remember that this is other people's relaxation time too.
We should always try to be aware that we are representatives of our country when we travel abroad. It only takes a few losers to give an entire country a bad reputation. That being said, we managed to have a great time at the Crowne despite this small problem. We recommend it to anyone - just bring earplugs!
