acapulco in mid august. it is worth it? too rainy?

by doxtran

I´m planning to go to acapulco from august 20th for a week. I´d like to know if I should reconsider this because it is usually too rainy there ( or maybe it is not that bad ). of course weather isn´t that predictible but any info will help me to decide this trip.

thanx!!

"Too Rainy"? Unless a tropical storm has parked itself somewhere nearby in the Pacific Ocean, no, I don't think Acapulco is typically too rainy during August. Conditions up and down the Pacific Coast will be similar, as they will be off Cancun, Cozumel, etc. On the Pacific Coast side there are frequent rains lasting for short periods of time, most often in the afternoon. Some sun showers, also. Weather conditions will be hot/humid. You'll be arriving about the time school children end their short summer vacation, so there will be lots of hotel rooms available in all price categories.

If you're not too familiar with Acapulco you might appreciate viewing some of the many photos I've taken there and in nearby areas:

Travel Tips for Acapulco

Try everything, don't be shy. Shop the markets, gift shops, hit the beach, relax and enjoy. If you don't have fun it's your own fault. Walking the streets and stopping to see anything and everything that peaks you intrest. Talking with the people along the way, you will meet some real characters. Everyone there has a business card, no matter what they do.

*Everyone dresses in whatever is most comfortable and where they're from

*Of course if you plan on going to Palladium, you better dress in you club gear

Taxis are plentiful, cheap and safe. Make sure you ask the price to your location before getting in and ensure you are talking Pesos. We enjoyed every taxi driver and they were full of great information.

Beautiful, long, white sandy beaches. I found this area to not be packed with tourists and you can enjoy the beach to yourself. There is also a fresh water lagoon where you can enjoy a "jungle tour" or have a blast waterskiing. Get your camera ready for when the sun goes down because this stretch of beach is known for some of the most beautiful sunsets in Mexico.

Myan Palace...you can take a day trip there, it's wonderful. Actually you can stay here too but it's far from town, if you are going to spend the majority of your time hanging at the hotel then this is the place to be!
