Acapulco Tip
What a dive. I say you gotta have guts to dive from so high in such a little space. After 30 min. of meditation waiting for the right wave to come in the little bay, the diver flys down in the water.

I was in Acapulco with my family about 6 or 7 years ago and we ate at this beautiful restaurant in town. I am now going back to Acapulco to get married but can't remember the name of this restuarant. I wanted to have my wedding reception dinner there.
Can anyone help me?
Here is what I remember about it....
The restaurant felt like you were eating a gardern. It was outdoors, very beautiful inside, surrounded by a large garden. It was in town(main hotel area) and it was an upscale resturant. We had about 5 waiters serving us, excellent service and food.
Hi, i guess the restaurant you mention was the Villa Demos, that after switched the name to Villa Fiore. But now is gone, but dont worry, we hace restaurants as nice as that one were you could have your wedding.

With the use of a map, I ventured off La Costera (the tourist strip around the bay's edge) to one of the Markets therein. Almost as soon as you turn off the Costera, you begin to see real Acapulco. Some streets are very crowded with people, maybe depending on the day of the week and time of day... The buses are less pretty although at night they are all lit up cool and some have quite the boomboxes inside to entertain their riders. You just really feel like you're in Mexico and not an Americanized street in a Mexican coastal city. Be prepared also to see in real Acapulco many people on the streets with visual physical deformities or conditions, many who beg.
I would only recommend considering such a venture if 1) you have a tourist guide's map, 2) you speak Spanish (especially if you are female and going alone or with other females), and 3) during the daytime.
Even if you have a map, it can be easy to get lost in some areas because the streets twist and turn, and run into each other. For female travelers we can know if we need help it is wise to consult with local women (use your judgement on who to approach), and not men. On my venture, I needed to ask countless local women and youth for how to get to whatever street or back to the Costera. They are most willing to help you out.
I had not quite returned to the Costera before sundown, and I tell you the nature on those side streets seemed to change as soon as it got dark, and I felt a need to get back to the Costera. Enjoy Acapulco, but go with common sense, as with anywhere else :)
Last but not least, try not to spell yourself 'tourist'. Keep a low profile as you are able.
*Sanborns Cafe is a very popular local Mexican Chain restaurant very much like a Dennys back in the USA.
*Great decor, Good Service, and food that had great Mexican flare and taste
*Reasonably priced meals
*You can sit on the balcony overlooking the street/Acapulco or inside dining *I had the Rancheros Huervos, a great breakfast with eggs
*The freshly squeezed OJ was great after a night of bar hopping in Acapulco
The beaches are clean and most of them have sands.
The sand you'll find in Acapulco is very different from the one you find in Mexican Atlantic Coast: it's thick and brown. It may be a little more difficult to walk around but not unpleasant at all.
I have visited Acapulco on many occasions during my time in Mexico and I must say that I have had a great time on every visit!!
Acapulco used to be the party town for many people who wanted to get out of Mexico City either for the weekend or on vacation and this became ever more popular when a new highway was opened up. This reduced travelling time from 8 hrs to 5hrs by bus and even quicker by car!
My days in the town were spent on the beach during the day and in the clubs at night with the odd visit to see the cliff top divers!
