Travel between cities

by jimandterricoombs

On April 2, 2009 I need to travel from Acapulco cruise ship port to the Ixtapa Airport. I am having difficulty searching the Internet for any buses, cars, etc. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks! Terri

It might be easier to switch your flight to Acapulco than to take a bus between those two. It's about 200KM but check as this company services both cities.

Travel Tips for Acapulco

Tour Guide - Acapulco Style!

by toddakiyama

*There are personal tour guides available.

*They are usually hanging-out by the cruise terminal on the Northern bay of Acapulco

*They can help you with
- Finding certain items at a shop
- Finding a certain food item or restaurant
- A guided tour of the key sights in Acapulco
- Answering any questions
- A fun little way of exploring the City if this is your first visit

*Most of the better ones we found, usually have nice colorful shirts on and hold a wealth of knowledge

*K-B hired this one to take us to some of the Flea Markets in town, since this was our first time in Acapulco city area

*We paid him $20 USD for about 2 hours of help/touring.

*He was very friendly, gave us good information, pointed out certain sights and suggestions for later, spoke good english, humorous at times...we all felt he was worth the $20 USD.

*Keep in mind that some of the guides may be getting a kick-back from the vendors he takes you to..FYI

Most open air markets operate with a barter system. So go for it. I found myself tempted to not barter with some of the more noticably poor vendors. It was explained that these people prefer at least a little barter so they can respect themselves as well as the buyer. Keep cash and other important things very close to your body as pick pockets can fleece even the most suspicious traveler. Little ones like the one in the picture are the toughest kind of negociators you can ever meet:)

Palladium-it sits high up in the cliffs and has a glass wall that overlooks the entire lagoon and city. At 6am every night, there is a fireworks display. It's enormous. Enigma-right down the street from palladium. It is a small club, but really nice. both these clubs have go-go dancers DRESS TO IMPRESS

A day of fun and relaxing

by aventurera

Go one day to the beach of Puerto Marquez. For me this was one of the most typical and nicest beaches in Acapulco. I was there in low season and I had a great day. We rented a jetski and enjoyed the nice views. The fish restaurants on the beach offer nice seafooddishes and the all atmosphere is very Mexican.

by toddakiyama

*You can rent Jetskis for about $40 USD for 30 minutes.

*Sometimes when things are slow you can negotiate it down to $30, especially if more than one person is trying to talk you into renting one

*If you've never rented one in Acapulco, I suggest you do. It's a lot of fun while getting a chance to see the entire Bay

*Most fun when renting with others in you group!
