Nice studio / 1BR for a month - two needed...

by wozzek

Hello fellow travelers!

I will be in Guadalajara at the end of February until the end of March, perhaps April. I prefer to be centrally located - I like to walk endlessly, exploring the city - and would like to rent a small space (studio, 1 BR) with the Internet access for the time I am going to be there. All I need is a nice bed and a table where I would work a bit while not exploring.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Traveler,

I have found an excellent place to stay in Guadalajara. It's called "Casa Vila Santa", located SW of downtown in the Chapultepec area in the "Expiatorio Catedral Zone". It's more of a hostel than a hotel or apt. Large kitchen, nice living/common area, computers w/internet access available. It's clean and some cooking and laundry service is available. Subway to center around the corner-very handy. They are also very hospitable owners.

Tlaquepaque is a wonderful village that is part of greater Guadalajara that has a 6 or 7 traffic free blocks as walk ways down Independence ave with lots of lovely Art galleries, silver shops, Pottery, Ceramics, Forged iron items, Brass and copper items.

Bring your Oxygen Tank

All I can remember is the air quality was the worst, I had a headache the entire time I was out of the hotel. It was a great place to get gifts with religious themes. I stayed at the Sheraton and it was a nice hotel, no complaints about the room at all. Lake Chapala was a nice area, the lake was pretty large and impressive. Some pretty good food around the lake too.

I would never visit this city if it was not for work. But all in all it was a good experience, just to see how people live and to visit a new place. It does appear to be a very poor area and I did fell safe the whole time.

I only wish I had gotten to visit the Suaza factory, since that was founded in Guadalajara.
